“My Nigga” has no place at the White House Correspondents Dinner

Really did I hear him right. Did he actually call POTUS “my nigga”. Yes he did. Larry Wilmore called President Obama “my nigga”. Was it bold and funny? No it was inappropriate. The whole concept of Wilmore is black and so is the president so it’s fine. No it is not. If Seth Meyers said it the Twitter world would be on fire. Al Sharpton would say give me a microphone. This was not cool. Share your thoughts.

Is Hate Alright When it Comes from the Left?

I watched the White House Correspondent’s Dinner Saturday night and I must admit I laughed my head off. The only things I took exception to were Wanda Sykes Limbaugh jokes. The 9/11 joke and the kidney failing joke were a little over the top for me, but what I find fascinating is how many people really found nothing wrong with the jokes. They justify it by saying Limbaugh is so despicable and he says such vile things so he is fair game. Limbaugh is a true hatemonger with an incredible following and he is known for saying things that are completely over the top, but does that give the left license to climb down into that same sewer with him? A friend of mine said that I hold the Obama administration up to another standard, and the reality is I do expect more from them than the Bush administration, but I know that the President is a politician with his own partisan bent. I don’t blame him for the Sykes gaffe, but what she said puts the administration in an uncomfortable position. Most just say it was just a joke so let it go, but this administration is still new and I still have hope for them. President Obama was funny without being cruel and I only hope this is the track the administration continues to follow. It is so easy to accept hate as the norm when it comes from someone you like, but I still believe America is better than that.

Wanda Sykes Went Over the Top with the Limbaugh Joke

The White House correspondent’s dinner was a hoot. It was fun to see the President just have fun. Wanda Sykes was the headliner and she was very funny, but she did go over the top. She said that Rush Limbaugh was one of the president’s chief critics and suggested that the president should check out Rush Limbaugh, and see if he was the 20th highjacker on the 9/11 flights. She said he probably missed his flight because he was strung out on drugs. Some in the crowd booed and others nervously laughed. This simply was not funny. It was in bad taste and it gives Limbaugh and his cronies fodder for their shows and their websites. Some things are off limits and 9/11 falls into that category.  Rush Limbaugh is in fact a hatemonger, but to compare him to the 9/11 terrorists who killed over 3,000 innocent Americans is way over the top.
