BISHOP T.D. JAKES ANNOUNCES 2014 INTERNATIONAL PASTORS & LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

LEADERS WITHIN THE GLOBAL FAITH-BASED COMMUNITY
Theme “Branching Out” Promises to Expand Ministry Impact Beyond Church Walls
DALLAS (Jan. 6, 2014) — Bishop T.D. Jakes, senior pastor of The Potter’s House
and global influencer, is hosting his 2014 International Pastors & Leadership Conference, March 6th – 8th, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The conference aims to help church leaders to transform their ministries and strengthen their organizational infrastructures to serve their communities within an increasingly complex society. Within the core curriculums of: Technology, Leadership, Fine Arts and Administrative Support, the highly anticipated gathering of faith-based experts will equip church executives, leaders and staffs with executive strategies intended to boost their ministries during an ever-changing global and economic
landscape. Taking heed to the 2014 “Branching Out” theme, Bishop Jakes moves beyond the conventional barriers by bringing together culturally, ethnically and denominationally diverse leaders to Orlando to speak to a wide-range of perspectives, expertise and leadership.
“We want to ensure the next generation of leaders maximizes their potential and believe in their dream enough to be exposed to this level of teaching by legends
in the faith” Bishop Jakes remarked. “Developing people is one of the most important things a leader can do. Equipping yourself as a leader but failing to
develop the organizational structure under you can cause unnecessary struggles for any organization. This conference provides that opportunity for individuals
to strengthen those behind-the-scene aspects that often keep leaders from reaching their dreams.” Several thousand are expected to convene at the annual three-day event. For more than 15 years, leaders, church executives, lay-ministers, support staff and fine-arts leaders have come from all corners of the globe to hear from some of
the world’s most knowledgeable leaders and gain revelatory principles to learn how to grow their ministries.
Inaugural Leadership School Graduation This year’s conference marks the second year T.D. Jakes School of Leadership, powered by Regent University will be present and the first year the University will conduct graduation ceremonies for individuals who have successfully
completed the executive course program.

Oprah’s Lifeclass with Bishop TD Jakes was inspiring

I must admit I have not been a fan on the OWN network. Over the past year it has served up a heaping helping of reruns, but I did find a ray of hope when she launched the show Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s, which chronicles the struggles of a family that owns a sould food resteraunt in St. Louis. I liked this show enough to keep coming back on a weekly basis. Most recently I have watched Oprah interview Joel Osteen and TD Jakes and last night I watched her Lifeclass. Last night’s lifeclass with Jakes was outstanding. The theme of the night was Finding Your Purpose. They talked about how people confuse talent with purpose. You might have a little talent in an area and people encourage you to pursue that but that might not be what you were designed to do. they stressed that everyone might not have an earthshattering change the world kind of prupose but they have the capacity to change their own world. There were so many golden nuggets last night including: “When your space is too small for you–you have to get out and grow”. Get rid of the “cublicle mentality”. “Don’t let people define you how they met you.” Jakes also talked about our need for immediate results and he shared an African saying “there is a danger of eating your dinner in the morning.” It was a great session and I encourage anyone in search of their purpose to visit Oprah on Facebook or her website to see last night’s session.

CNN Almighty Debt airs tonight at 9PM

Don’t forget to watch CNN’s latest installment of Black in America. Tonight’s installment is The Almighty Debt. This series will explore churches that are helping their members deal with debt and will feature a townhall discussion with Bishop TD Jakes and Pastor Soaries. One of the questions they will be answering is should pastors provide financial advice? The church has never been shy about asking for money but few have ever sought to empower members with the tools necessary to help members manage their finances. The black church has been under instense scrutiny in light of the Eddie Long scandal. People are questioning whether ministers are being good stewards of the members contributions. I look forward to hearing a very lively and informative discussion tonight, and I encourage everyone to watch.

TD Jakes Son’s Arrest Puts the Spotlight on His Ministry

TD Jakes stepson, Jermaine Jakes was arrested for indecent exposure. He allegedly exposed himself to two undercover policemen. Jermaine Jakes is a 29 year old man. So he is responsible for his own behavior, but some writers and bloggers are taking particular joy in throwing stones at the elder Jakes. TD Jakes is the pastor of the mega-church the Potter’s House in Dallas TX, and he ministered to the president on Inauguration Day. TD jakes has appeared on Larry King Live, The Today Show and Dr. Phil. He is a sought after, speaker, author and playwright. He started with nothing and is now a true success story. It just seems that when someone achieves success we initially rejoice and applaud their efforts, but if they become too successful our society seemingly rejoices even more in their descent. Jakes addressed the issue today in his service. He said “As parents, we occasionally feel that our children do not live up to our highest and best ideals. When they do not, we don’t diminish our love for them as recompense for our disapproval… It is in moments like these that I am so grateful that we do not preach that we are the solution, but we look to Christ for resolution.” The sins of the son are just that the sins of the son.
