NBC Professional Nancy Snyderman wants to take the “Christ” out of Christmas

This morning on the Today Show “Professionals segment”, Matt Lauer led the discussion of outsourcing some of the tasks associated with Christmas. He said that you can get people to pick your tree, decorate your tree, write out your Christmas cards etc. He then asked Star Jones,  Donny Deutsch and Dr. Nancy Snyderman to comment on it. Jones said that she honors the religious aspect of the holiday and then Snyderman said that’s the part of the holiday that bugs to which Jones replied “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.” Lauer seemed a little taken aback by Snyderman’s remark. The question is do you spend any time honoring the reason for the season or is it just an opportunity to get and give gifts? Share your thoughts.

Is Anderson Cooper a talk show host or a journalist?

Yesterday I watched Anderson Cooper Live. Cooper is in his second season of hosting a daytime talk show. Prior to joining the daytime chatfest Cooper worked for CNN and CBS 60 Minutes. He still works for both news organizations. Cooper has covered and continues to cover hard news stories. He is a respected journalist. Earlier this year Cooper announced to the world that he is gay. This had been rumored for years, but Cooper affirmed it in a very quiet way. He did not hype it on his daytime show, but I remember after he affirmed it the announcement became a top topic for discussion on daytime television. Star Jones of NBC The Professionals said that the announcement was in fact a rating ploy designed to help the ratings for Cooper’s struggling show. Jones a veteran of daytime television made this assertion based on her years of being on daytime television. That was months ago, but yesterday Cooper decided to take on Jones. Andy Cohen, one of Cooper’s best friends was Cooper’s guest co host yesterday and they decided to take on Jones. Cooper took umbrage to Jones assertion that the announcement was a ratings ploy and he went on to throw a little shade on Jones. He talked about her pre-wedding hijinx when she was one of the co hosts of ABC The View. He mentioned the fact that she promoted items on the show so that she could receive free stuff for her wedding, and how she had gastric bypass and forced her fellow co hosts to lie about it. All of these things might be true about Jones, but why would Cooper decide to get involved in a daytime feud? This is the kind of back and forth that is a hallmark of daytime television, but is this the kind of back and forth that a journalist wants to engage in? Does it diminish Cooper’s status to get into a catfight with Jones? A journalist delivers the news to their audience whereas a talk show host tries to make the news. The question is can Cooper actually do both? Share your thoughts.

When Mark Zuckerberg wears a hoodie he’s a genius, but when Trayvon Martin wore one he was a hoodlum…what’s the difference?

This morning on the Today Show Star Jones said something that I had been discussing with my husband the other day. Facebook founder mark Zuckerberg loves his hoodie. He wears them everywhere. He had to be told to ditch it when he went to a meeting at the White House, but he is viewed as a talented genius. Even if he pulls it up he is not seen as a criminal, but when Trayvon Martin wore that same article of clothing he was viewed as a criminal. The hoodie was demonized. Well not the hoodie but the person wearing the hoodie. When Jones articulated this point Donny Deutsch said why do you have to make this into a black white issue? Why because it is.

Was Star Jones ambushed on The View yesterday?

Star Jones appeared on The View yesterday for the first time in 6 years. She left in 2006 when her contract was not renewed. She announced it prior to the agreed upon time and Barba walters was livid. Since that time Jones has had her own show on Court Television and she is now on the NBC Today Show. This morning she was defended by Donny Deutsch who said she was ambushed on The View yesterday, and he went on to say that Barbara Walters and Joy Behar acted like mean girls. My question is were Walters and Behar out of line talking about the past or would it have been weird not to discuss Star’s departure. Tell me what you think. http://todayentertainment.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/02/23/10486528-donny-deutsch-defends-star-jones-against-the-views-mean-girls

Last word on Apprentice or should we call it the NeNe Show?

NeNe Leakes came to the Apprentice set with a mission, and it was not the obvious one, but it was to become a household name. She is a success for all the wrong reasons. She reminds me of a comedy sketch I saw that asked what black people do you simply want to give away. She said some things that could only be defined as cringe worthy. She admitted as much on the Sunday Today Show. On last night’s Apprentice finale they devoted an entire segment to her most memorable outbursts. She expressed no regret. When Star Jones was asked her response to the antics of the Atlanta Housewife she said “I was disheartened as I watched the episodes unfolded. She used this platform to attack every single black woman on the show.” Leakes responded  “It’s not a racial thing.” Sadly it really is a racial thing. Leakes fit the profile of the “angry black woman” and she reserved her venom for her black colleagues. Sure she had some zingers for her white castmates, but she went off on LaToya Jackson and she used Star Jones as her personal punching bag. She called Jones a manipulator and I will grant her that Jones was a savvy player, but NeNe was a loud mouth, bully. Yes, some will say she was good television and sadly some things that might be good to you is simply not good for you. So now everyone knows her name, but for all the wrong reasons.

Donald Trump makes Star Jones the butt of his fat Joke

Donald Trump is known for making controversial remarks, but tonight he made a joke that literally made me stop in my tracks. Nene Leakes one of the members of the women’s team said that some of the women were trying to “get up Star Jones’ ass.” Donald Trump replied well that would be easier now then it was a few years ago. This was in reference to the fact that Jones once weighed 300 pounds. Trump laughed at his fat joke and Jones did too. It was inappropriate, but he is inappropriate so what’s new? There is nothing new, but his humor represents the one group that you can joke without fear of reprecussion. Fat people. You can say what you want and nobody stops you. If Nene Leakes had made the same statement to Jones it would not have been received with laughter, but The Donald can literally say with anything these days.

When did Shame Die?

Have you noticed how people have no shame. Back in the day people had a sense of shame.  I read this article by Star Jones and I think she captures the lack of shame and the need for it in our society. Is a sense of shame a good thing? Tell me what you think.

Nene Leakes Badmouths Star Jones on The Talk

Tomorrow night NBC Celebrity Apprentice starts. Nene Leakes, formerly of the Real Housewives of Atlanta will make her leap from cable to primetime, and for the past few weeks we have watched her badmouth her castmate Star Jones. I’ve never been a Star Jones fan, but I am sick of hearing Leakes tell us that Jones is a terrible person. Jones was once on The View and she was let go when they decided to add Rosie O’Donnell to the mix. We see how that worked out, but Jones was cast as the villian in that debacle, and now Nene has made it her one woman mission to do the same thing in this situation. Leakes needs to give it a rest and let us watch the show. We can make our own decisions. From where I am sitting Leakes is coming off as a loudmouth bully and Jones by her silence is coming off smelling like a rose.

Reality Star Nene Leakes is Seriously in Need of a Reality Check

A few days ago I wrote of the battle between Nene Leakes and Star Jones. One of the comments I received was “who is Nene”?. I really forgot most of America does not know her since her claim to fame is Bravo TV Real Housewives of Atlanta. Her appearance on NBC Apprentice this March will probably make her a household name, but at what cost? She has been going on various talk shows beefing with Star Jones and we have seen her in the promos for the show hurl insults at various cast mates, but the other day I saw her do something that was simply vile. She was shown mocking Marlee Matlin.  Matlin who is deaf uses sign language and there was Leakes using her hands in a feeble attempt at humor. Is this what we have come to? We have Leakes acting as a loud bully doing non sensical hand gestures? This is not funny and NBC, the Apprentice and Nene Leakes should be ashamed, but if the rating go through the roof they will simply say this is must see television.

What is Nene Leakes beef with Star Jones?

Nene Leakes and Star Jones will both be on  NBC show Celebrity Apprentice scheduled for March of this year. Over the last few weeks Nene Leakes, whose claim to fame is being on the Bravo show Real Housewives of Atlanta has appeared on various talks shows badmouthing Star Jones. On the Wendy Williams Show, Leakes said she “would not spit on Star Jones if she was on fire.” Finally, Jones has had enough of this foolishness and she has released the following statement,”I did Celebrity Apprentice to raise money and awareness for a charity [the American Heart Association] that has been instrumental in my life, not to see it reduced to a cliché where black women attack one another for publicity’s sake…I haven’t commented on any of her comments in hopes that she would remember that we all participated in this show for charity and not as a vehicle to promote ourselves and such hatred. I was clearly wrong and I decided to finally respond.” You go Star, you are trying to take the high road and unfortunately that is a foreign path for the ultimate wannabee Nene Leakes.
