Bruce Jenner is transitioning to a woman

The Kardashians are reality royalty. They share everything with the world, and Bruce Jenner will be sharing his transition. Is there anything this family will not share?

Bravo TV Married to Medicine was one hot mess

Bravo TV prides itself in creating reality television shows with little or no connection to reality and Married to Medicine is the latest one to hit the screen. I am by no means a reality tv snob, but this one is pure unadulterated trash. Yes, I said it–trash. I have never met any doctor wives or doctors who would act like this on a bet. I never would have bothered to even post about this show until I saw this clip. A Howard University medical student started a petition to dump this show. Not a fan of petitions to stop shows. If you don’t like it don’t watch it, but that’s my opinion, but if this student felt that she needed to do something more power to her, and to see this group taking shots at the student is really in very poor taste, but after watching the first 10 minutes of the show what should I have expected. Ladies, please leave the medical student alone. She was doing what she felt she needed to do, and you all are doing what you are being paid to do.

Nene Leakes on the cover of Ebony…is this the new normal?

Reality star Nene leakes is on the December issue of ebony magazine. She is part of their Power 100 issue. ebony has moved from an issue related magazine to a black People magazine so I guess Leakes is a logical cover girl. Read the linked story for another perspective.

Bravo TV to do Russell Armstrong Suicide Special…they will literally do anything for ratings

Russell Armstrong committed suicide two weeks ago. He and his wife Taylor were castmates on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. He had been rumored to have had money problems and marital problems that some say the televsion show used to their advantage. So now comes word that Bravo has decided to do a show that addresses the suicide. Really? This is simply beyond bad taste. This borders on dancing on the man’s grave. Can they simply get one more rating point from a dead man. Bravo took a lot of criticism from Armstrong’s family members and friends regarding the role the show played in his suicide. We will will never know why Armstrong took his life, but Bravo must feel like they have blood on their hands because besides ratings they might garner this is an attempt to clean their grimy paws.

Reality Star Nene Leakes is Seriously in Need of a Reality Check

A few days ago I wrote of the battle between Nene Leakes and Star Jones. One of the comments I received was “who is Nene”?. I really forgot most of America does not know her since her claim to fame is Bravo TV Real Housewives of Atlanta. Her appearance on NBC Apprentice this March will probably make her a household name, but at what cost? She has been going on various talk shows beefing with Star Jones and we have seen her in the promos for the show hurl insults at various cast mates, but the other day I saw her do something that was simply vile. She was shown mocking Marlee Matlin.  Matlin who is deaf uses sign language and there was Leakes using her hands in a feeble attempt at humor. Is this what we have come to? We have Leakes acting as a loud bully doing non sensical hand gestures? This is not funny and NBC, the Apprentice and Nene Leakes should be ashamed, but if the rating go through the roof they will simply say this is must see television.

Celebrity Apprentice or is it the Last landing for has Beens and launching pads for Wanna Bees?

Yesterday I saw the list of participants for the next cycle of NBC Celebrity Apprentice. Three names jumped out to me for very different reasons. Star Jones, Dionne Warwick and NeNe Leekes will be on the show. Star Jones was once a cohost on The View, she has also been a legal correspondent for various cable outlets and she is an attorney. Dionne Warwick is an accomplished singer and a multi Grammy award winner, and finally we have NeNe Leekes the star of the Bravo series The Real Housewives of Atlanta. It is sad to see Jones and Warwick participating in this sham. They were real celebrities and at this point their stars have dimmed and they feel their appearances might help them reclaim some of the shine. On the other hand this kind of circus is tailor made for the likes of Leekes who is trying to broaden her brand. This is definitely not must see tv because the reality is it is just plain sad.

Bristol Palin and The Situation have the Sex Talk

Bristol Palin preaches abstinence and The Situation prides himself in getting into sexual “situations”. So why would they be coupled in this PSA? Is this effective or just plain strange. Tell me what you think.

Please Tell me Where did CBS Survivor Finda NaOnka?

We all know reality television has nothing to do with reality. The loudest in the crowd tend to get more air time. This brings me to the latest cartoon like character–NaOnka. She is a contestant on the CBS show Survivor. Last night she and another candidate were fighting and I mean real tousling over a clue to a hidden immunity idol. The person she was battling with has one leg and that is not the issue. The contestant with the prothesis is a viable and formidable contestant, but NaOnka’s speech after retrieving the clue was over the top. She said she didn’t care if she had one leg, she threatened to hide it or even burn it. NaOnka said she didn’t go “ghetto” on the girl she went “hood” on her.  To say it was not enough. NaOnka had to do an imitation of both for the audience. Where do they find these people? Does the producer go out scouting them? Survivor is infamous for finding these polarizing stereotypes and it just seems a tad bit contrived to me.

Why do the Duggars bug us so Much?

The Duggars are on the upcoming People magazine cover with their 19th child Josie. She had serious health issues at birth and Michelle Duggar also dealt with serious pregnancy complications. Michelle had preeclampsia (pregnancy induced high blood pressure)  which could have been deadly to both the mother and the child. The Duggars are the stars of the TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting. They are devout Baptists who obviously do not believe in birth control. In the article they talk about being open to the possibility of having number 20.  I think as long as they can take care of them they can have as many children that they want, but what concerns me is how the other children are forced to co-parent their siblings. In the article Michelle says something very telling, she said “When she(Josie) first came home, I couldn’t sleep at all. That was the scariest part for me, having the full responsibility of her care on my shoulders … It was intimidating.” My question is well who had was responsible for the other children when they were babies? While it is true the older siblings do help with the younger siblings in most families, but most families don’t have 19 children. One of the commenters on the People magazine article said it would have served them right if little Josie had died. That’s a cruel sentiment. I do believe that children are a gift from God and I can only wish them well and say better her than me.

Big Brother Contestant Matt Lies and Says His Wife is Sick…So?

Over the weekend The Soup did a segment on Matt a contestant on the CBS show Big Brother, he could not even keep a straight face as he told his castmates his fictitious tale of woe. This morning on The View they addressed his lie. In an effort to win Matt has told his fellow contestants that his wife suffers from a rare illness, and  if he wins he will use his winnings to offset medical expenses. He is lying, but they all have seemingly bought into the lie. So is he a bad guy? No, he is the latest guy willing to do anything to win money. A few years ago a contestant on Survivor told his castmates his grandmother was dying in order for him to gain an advantage. So my question is why would the contestants be so gullible? When reality shows were in their infancy I could see how people still believed in the goodness in people and they could be bamboozled, but now it would seem the contestants would take everything anyone said with a grain of salt. Don’t get me wrong I have no respect for this tactic, but it is a dirty tactic and reality television is full of dirty people.
