Yesterday the New England Patriots visited the White House to celebrate their victory with President Trump. This picture came out showing the difference between the Patriots that visited in 2015 compared to the number that visited yesterday. When will the comparisons stop? We had the picture controversy associated with the Inauguration and now this. The Patriots have said the 2015 picture included the players and the staff whereas yesterday’s picture included the team. Let’s be fair this is an attempt to simply stir the pot.

Back in the good ole days the truth was not a subjective concept. It was bold and emphatic and you had to agree with it. Black was Black. Up was up, and down was down, but those days are gone. The truth has become a subjective concept subject to individual interpretation. I can remember watching Oprah and her saying the guest was “speaking her own truth”. What is her truth? Isn’t it just truth? We now live in the land where everyone has their own truth. Absolutes are challenged and we see this everywhere especially in our politics. We have been introduced to “alternative facts”, which are facts that conflict with the accepted proven facts. We now have the ability to watch news that affirms our opinion.
The days of Walter Cronkite are so far gone he has been replaced by Sean Hannity and Chris Matthews. Each one speaking the truth to their particular audience. So, both audiences walk away armed with their own truth and ready to defend it. How did we get here and is there any way we will ever accept one real truth?
Over the past few weeks we have seen President Trump accuse President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower during the election. He had no evidence to support this information he tweeted to the world. This was his truth and he sent his minions and several government agencies in search of evidence to back up his truth. So far none has been uncovered, but Trump still holds fast to his truth.
So, we are left wondering where is truth and will we ever all be able to say in unison the sky is blue.

Barack Obama was elected president in 2008 and he took office in 2009. The Republicans were upset and out of anger and frustrations a group splintered from the traditional Republican party. That group became the Tea Party. They carried their flags wore their funny hats and constantly protested. The Democrats initially dismissed them and the president even said they were a part of “silly season”. The Republicans thought they could control them, but the Tea Party had their own agenda, and they were willing to do anything to make it happen.
In 2010 they started supporting candidates that supported their mission and a lot of the traditional GOP stalwarts found themselves on the outside looking in. The Tea Party was against President Obama and anything he endorsed, touched or sanctioned they viewed as poison. As I watched them I could not believe they could sustain this level of zeal, but they did and they elected people to government who had a mission not just to shake up things, but to tear it up if necessary.
Their persistence ultimately gave us President Trump. Now we are starting to see Trump dismiss disgruntled Democrats to his detriment. President Obama was elected twice, but he lost the House and the Senate and the Republicans and the Tea Party did all they could to hogtie his agenda. This is the kind of attitude that the Democrats must adopt if they expect to start the change in 2018. They have to stay agitated, aggravated, and motivated. They are being called sore losers, but in loss one can learn how to win. The Democrats have to have the resolve of the Tea Party and the Democrats will rise again. Hopefully, in 2018.
Black college presidents meet with the president and face backlash on campus…what is the expectation?
The other day a group of presidents of HBCUs met with President Trump. Their students were not happy with the decision, but what should they have done? What will be accomplished if they do not have conversations with the current POTUS? Read the linked story and share your thoughts.
Tonight President Trump will name his Supreme Court nominee. It will be done at 8PM Eastern time. There are two candidates and both men have been flown into to DC. The press said he has made his decision but he reserves the right to change his mind. It’s dramatic television. The kind of thing that a showman loves. He wants to keep us guessing. This is a show but it really is not. It is just another chapter in this reality show that we have unwillingly become a part of.
