Politico writer Joe williams says he is the target of a conservative smear campaign

Last week Politico reporter Joe Williams appeared on MSNBC Martin Bashir’s show. During the course of the conversation Williams said Mitt Romney was more comfortable around “white folks”. I actually agree with him, but Politico suspended him for these remarks, and that is their right. When you work for someone and make a statement that associates their brand with your statement your employer has a right to suspend you or possibly fire you. Williams claims that he is the victim of a right wing smear, and that too might be true, but if you are bold enough to make the statement you must be bold enough to deal with the fallout.

Joe Scarborough calls Sarah Palin out

Last week Sarah Palin made some disparaging remarks about fellow Republicans. She diminished the legacy of Ronald Reagan by saying he made movies like “Bedtime with Bonzo”. Whereas, this was factually correct this was way before he truly carved out his professional political resume. She also refered to the first President Bush and his family as “bluebloods.” This reference was made after Barbara Bush advised the former governor to stay in Alaska. Most Republicans are afraid of Palin and fear that any criticsm of her will alienate her base, but finally someone had the nerve to stand up  and called her out.  MSNBC Joe Scarborough wrote an excellent piece for Politico this morning. Tell me what you think. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/45687.html
