Fix My Life Ivanla Vanzant calls guest a “bitch” and she tries to justify it

OWN Fix My Life started its new season by profiling RB singer Keisha Cole’s sister Neffie and her husband. Their troubled marriage was put under the microscope. Early on Vanzant sympathized with the husband and she seemed to hone in on Neffie’s faults. She went step too far when she called Neffie a bitch. She justified using the vile term by saying Neffie’s actions dictated the use of the word. Later Vanzant uttered a half-hearted apology but it fell flat. If you promote yourself as the life fixer you need to work on how you talk to a guest, and know that you never call an invited a guest a bitch.

Rev. Run and Tyrese coming to OWN…is this a problem?

This Saturday Rev. Run and Tyrese will join the OWN family. They are going to be acting as relationship gurus, check out what Tyrese said about fat women in 2013. “No two situations are the same. If you are fat and nasty and you don’t like the way you look, do something about it. It’s simple,” the singer-turned-actor replied. Continuing his no-holds-barred rant, he said, “When you take a shower and you put your fat, nasty body in the shower and by the time you get out, the mirrors are all steamed up so you don’t look at what you did to yourself. That may sound offensive or insensitive but ultimately, you are big as hell because you have earned that s–t. You worked your a– off to eat everything in sight to get big as hell. If you got a problem with the way you look, then you need to do something about it,” he added. “Excuses sound best to the people that’s making them up.” Of course after online backlash he apologized. So now in 2016 he and Rev. Run will be dispensing advice on a network owned by Queen Oprah. Share your thoughts.

Oprah, why would you give a show to a man who has 34 children by 17 women?

This week I read that the OWN network is giving a show to a man who has 34 children by 17 women. The man appeared on Ivanyla’s show Fix My Life for 4 weeks. I can assume they received great ratings and that is the catalyst for giving this guy a show. He is being rewarded for his irresponsible decision making. When Oprah had her show she touted the fact that she wanted her shows to be uplifting, but apparently that is the thinking of a television host not a network owner. Ratings rule.

Deion” Primetime” Sanders Tale of 2 reality shows

At the beginining of the show we hear that Deion Sanders is the only athlete that has been in the Super Bowl and the World Series, and he also has another notable distinction. Two reality shows showcasing his family and the second one has eliminated the mother of his children. The second show appears on the Oprah Network and it is just interesting to watch this “reality” show because we know that there is nothing real about this made for television show.

Oprah knew what Tyler Perry would do when she brought him to OWN

This morning I heard on the Tom Joyner Morning Show that there is a petition on Change. org demanding Oprah to drop Tyler Perry’s show The Have and the Have Nots. This is OWN’s first attempt at a scripted show and it is a hit. So we can safely assume that Oprah will not be dropping the show. So many people hold Oprah in such high regard. Frankly they have put a crown on her hand and yearn to kiss her ring, but they simply don’t want to accept that she is in a new business now. She owns a network and she is about making that network successful. She is no longer strictly in the empowerment business. Tyler Perry has been very successful with his Madea franchise and he was asked to bring some of that magic and buffoonery to OWN and he has done so. I used to blast Tyler Perry’s movies, but finally one of my friend said enough and she was right. Now I simply don’t go. Creating a petition is a noble endeavor, but as of this morning that petition had only garnered 86 signatures. If you don’t like what Perry is dishing out just don’t watch it. Asking Oprah to cancel a hit is like spitting in the wind. Wipe your face and realize Oprah saw the show before you did and it was fine with her. Perry’s brand of drama and humor did not surprise the Queen frankly it’s why she brought Tyler to OWN.

Iyanla Vanzant Fix My Life…Sadly, She Couldn’t fix the Whitfields

Last night Iyanla Vanzant sat down with former reality star Sheree Whitfield and her ex-husband former NFL player Bob Whitfield. Vanzant attempted to try to help them form a healthy co-parenting relationship, but both of them seem to be set in their positions and not willing to change so Vanzant had to simply let them continue to agree to disagree, but the show was the catalyst to an interesting conversation in my home. Bob Whitfield has not been paying child support but he wants to foster a relationship with his children. His ex-wife’s chief complaint has been that he does not pay support and he contends she makes enough money to care for the children. So as we were watching the show I said he does not pay his support so he has to forgo seeing them until he pays up, my husband had a very interesting perspective. My husband made this simple distinction he said it is “child support not child viewing.” The custodial parent has all the power and sometimes even when the parent does pay support they simply do not have true access to the children but my question is do you think that a parent has a right to see the children even if they don’t pay support? Tyler Perry and OWN join forces

SENT TO THE TYLER PERRY MAILING LIST:
As I sit here in Atlanta, it’s raining an abundant rain. It makes me think of my mother. She loved the rain and I do too. It is befitting that this announcement would be made on a day like today. Yes it’s true, Oprah and I have joined forces. We’ve formed a partnership for OWN and I’m super excited about it. I’ll fill you in more as we get closer to the airing of my shows. I have a lot of questions for you about this, so stay close, OK? I need your help.

Was Oprah begging for viewers…maybe she should have kept her day job

Oprah Winfrey reigned over daytime television for 25 years. She was must see television for women, but she has not been able to take that Midas touch to the OWN network. Sunday night she was tweeting and encouraging Grammy viewers to go to her network during breaks and she also specifically addressed viewers with Neilson boxers to come view OWN shows. That was where this went into No No territory. A network can not solicit Neilson viewers to watch. Winfrey claims this was not her intent, but it all goes back to what I say all the time 140 characters can kill you. Just ask Ashton Kutcher, Chris Brown, Roland Martin and many others who thought they could just tweet a thought and it came back to bite them.
