Karl Rove tells Donna Brazile that she “owes him some fried chicken”, and its not a problem

This morning while we were watching This Week with George Stephanopoulos we witnessed some comic banter between Donna Brazile and Karl Rove. Brazile told Rove that he owed her some chili and Rove told her that she owed him some fried chicken. Most people watching the show saw two people who know each other well. He obviously makes good chili and she makes good chicken. Nothing racial or sinister here, but the mere mention of fried chicken and black woman in the same sentence will send the race hawks off the roof. So you heard it hear first Rove meant no harm.

How GOP voter suppression efforts backfired

It is comical to see Karl Rove talk about voter suppression. Read the linked story.

Fox News Karl Rove explains the Obama victory

There was an episode of I Love Lucy where Ricky Ricardo says to zany Lucy “you’ve go som explaing to do”. I thought of that quote when i read this piece by Karl Rove. He has to explain to his super donors why despite the millions they turned over to him and his super pacs they lost and it interesting to see it is all about the president. Read the link and share your thoughts.

Rick Perry Is Playing out of the Sarah Palin Political Playbook

Rick Perry the great GOP hope is picking up where Sarah Palin left off. He is a radical Texan who refuses to be tamed. He has questioned the president’s patriotism and made wild statements regarding Ben Bernanke, but Perry is not backing off his statments. As a true Texan he has chosen to double down. Karl Rove used to be a voice that many in the GOP listened to but not this new jack bunch. He has admonished Perry regarding this kind of talk, but Rove is regarded as an establishment figure and his opinions are not held in high regard with the radicals that are now running the party. Perry has not been in the race for a week yet, but already he is stirring the pot. http://dailycaller.com/2011/08/16/rove-condemns-perrys-comments-on-bernanke-george-w-bush/

Karl Rove, Dirty Trick Master, Attempts to Rewrite History

It is fascinating to watch politicians and political insiders try to write a new chapter in their lives. The tricky part is doing it while trying to erase your past and that is what Karl Rove is attempting to do. Rove is a winner.  That is why he was one of President Bush’s right hand men. Rove could win elections because he didn’t let people get in the way. He was a win at any cost kind of guy, but that Rove is not the one that appeared on the Today Show over the past two days. This kinder, gentler guys tells us the he simply did not do some of the things people say he did.  He said “his reputation as a down-and-dirty political campaigner is undeserved. Tricks attributed to him were either media distortions or the work of others.  Rove specifically said he had nothing to do with the smear tactics used against Sen. John McCain in South Carolina during the 2000 Republican presidential primary campaign. One of the more notorious dirty tricks of which Rove is accused is the so-called “push-pull poll” conducted in South Carolina during the 2000 primaries, when George W. Bush and John McCain were vying for the Republican presidential nomination. The poll suggested that McCain, who has an adopted daughter from Bangladesh, had fathered an illegitimate child with a black woman.” Rove claimed he had nothing to do with it and he went on to criticize McCain for not making it a teachable moment, and sharing how he and his wife had adopted a daughter. Rove went on to say “I have become an adjective. There is something called a Rovian-style of campaigning and it’s meant as an insult. One columnist said it consists mainly of throwing mud until it sticks. One prominent blogger described the elements of a textbook Rovian race as fear-based, smear-based and anything goes.”* Rove is attempting to distance himself from the thing that he perfected. Dirty Politics existed before Lee Atwater, he exploited it for Bush Sr., but Karl Rove perfected it for GW Bush and like it or not that will be his legacy.

Why Would the Today Show have Fox News Analyst Karl Rove on Their Show?

If I want to watch Fox News I will watch Fox News, but when I watch the Today Show I am not looking to hear the world according to Karl Rove. This morning Matt Lauer had him on to discuss the stimulus plan. One does not have to wonder how he stands. He is against it. That’s not news. When Rove resigned from the White House I could take other networks allowing him to express his viewpoint, but when a former White House staff member aligns himself with a network whose tagline could be “Just Say No to Obama” then I wonder why that person would be a guest on the Today Show. I have no problem in hearing voices of dissent, but let Rove express his opinion on his network not on the NBC Today Show.

Karl Rove Questions the Truthfulness of John McCain’s Campaign

You know you are a liar when your family and friends start questioning your truthfulness. Karl Rove, the undisputed architect of the dirty campaign has said some of McCain’s statements don’t pass the sniff test. Rove said “Well, McCain has gone in some of his ads — similarly gone one step too far, and sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the 100 percent truth test.” The Obama team should look at this statement as manna from heaven. McCain is running a dirty campaign predicated on half-truths and untruths. So when the Chief Apostle admits it the Democrats need to use his statement as soon as humanly possible.

George Bush is the Definition of Arrogance

We are counting the days until November 4th. That is the day we elect a new president and not a day to soon. President Bush met with Filipino President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Tuesday at the White House. She was seeking aid for her country that has been devastated by typhoons. Prior to starting the meeting the President decided to share a story. “First, I want to tell you how proud I am to be the President of a nation that — in which there’s a lot of Philippine-Americans. They love America and they love their heritage. And I reminded the President that I am reminded of the great talent of the — of our Philippine-Americans when I eat dinner at the White House.” This is our president meeting with another head of state and he thinks it’s appropriate to compare her to his cook. This is the epitome of arrogance. After making the statement Bush simply laughed because he had no idea that what he said was completely inappropriate. This would be laughable if it were not so pathetic.

Karl Rove Has A Crush On Obama

The media is determined to paint Obama as something so different from mainstream. yesterday on Morning Joe they started talking about Obama being “exotic”. Somehow so radically different from the traditional American people. They have even stooped to quoting Karl Rove. Rove has called him “cooly arrogant.” He characterized him this way “Even if you never met him, you know this guy,” Rove said, per Christianne Klein. “He’s the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by.”  It is so interesting that they analyze every aspect of Obama, but they do not analyze every aspect of McCain. McCain’s temper is legendary on the Hill, but we don’t hear or see endless hours spent discussing  this. This need to characterize and over analyze Obama has become a daily exercise, and it is simply getting old. Perhaps it is because Obama is a head in the polls he is under the microscope more than his opponent. To attack someone’s character without any basis in fact might suggest some level of desperation. Rove sounds like the lonely nerd in high school who lives in his own little dream world, and he yearns to be popular. He envies Obama and wishes he was cool. Sadly the Roves of the world are merely backstage players and they can only stand an awe of the prime-time players. It sounds like a man crush.

Is Karl Rove Really that Smart?

Over the weekend I was talking to my aunt about the election. She is a Hillary lover. She started talking about the ill-fated candidacy of George McGovern. She said that he was a candidate that received crossover votes when he was running for the Democratic party candidacy. She said the Republicans picked him because they knew he would be a weak candidate in the general election. She went on to say that Barack Obama was a similar candidate and that Karl Rove was encouraging Republicans to vote for him because he too would be a weak candidate. Well, I just can not accept that Karl Rove is that smart or that the American public is that dumb. Obama represents change and that means people are tired of the status quo. People want someone different with a different perspective and they as well as I believe he is the one that can truly facilitate change. I can not accept that some diabolical force is behind his ascendency. Karl Rove might have been the architect behind the Bush presidencey, but I can not give him credit for the rise of Obama.
