Colin Kaepernick sits out the National Anthem…is he exercising his rights?

Millionaire quarterback Colin Kaepernick says he will not stand up for the National Anthem until black people are no longer oppressed. One might say he is exercising his rights but do his rights supercede the rights of his employer? The football field is his workplace and the employer controls the space. Kaepernick has a right to his opinion but not on the football field. NBC commentator Rodney Harrison went as far as to question Kaepernick’s blackness. Harrison has since apologized. Donald Trump has said Kaepernick should go to a country that aligns with his viewpoint. The quarterback need not leave the country but he should take his protest off the football field. Deflategate and what it teaches us about cheating

We have been talking about Deflategate all week. By now most people know the Patriots were caught with 11 deflated footballs and no one knew how they got that way. The thing that has been so interesting is watching people rationalize cheating. How many times have you heard a newscaster say “they would have won anyway”. So this was really no big deal. So would it have been a big deal if the score was closer? So rules only matter under certain circumstances? If that is true then why have rules? Last night the question was posed on Twitter “how do you explain Deflategate to children?” Some laughed off the question, but is it really funny? Are we really comfortable telling the next generation cheating is good as long as you don’t get caught. Share your thoughts.

Apollos Hester inspiring words light up the night

In Defense of Brent Musburger

katherine webb
ESPN issued an apology to Katherine Webb for Brent Musburger’s on air complimenting of Miss Alabama Katherine Webb. Musburger described Webb as gorgeous and beautiful. Musburger’s on air complimenting led to Webb’s Twitter followers going from nil to over 200 thousand. Webb has said she was not bothered by him. So why did ESPN feel the need to issue an apology? If she was not offeneded who are they apologizing to? All women? Musburger did not say she is “so Hot”. He said beautiful. When did that become an insult? Share your thoughts.

Is the vilification of Cam Newton justified?

Cam Newton was rookie of the year last year. Sunday he had 3 picks and pouted during the 3rd quarter, but is this cartoon justified?

Skip Bayless says white folks will cheer for white quarterback…is he right?

ESPN Skip Bayless said in reference to the Washington Redskins “I’m going to throw it out there. You also have the black/white dynamic and the majority of Redskins fans are white and it’s just human nature if you’re white to root for the white guy. It just happens in sports. Just like the black community will root for the black quarterback.” Racist or simply true? Share your thoughts.

Deion Sanders has wife arrested for attacking him, but did he help publicize the incident via Twitter?

Deion Sanders had his wife Pilar arrested for assaulting him. If she did then perhaps an arrest was warranted, but he also tweeted out pictures of him and his sons filling out police reports. It is one thing when a news agency takes a photograph for circulation, but to tweet what has to be a breakdown in your own family seems a little over the top. Read the linked article and share your thoughts.

Baltimore Raven Quaterback Joe Flacco says he is the best and now he is getting blasted, but isn’t this the American Way?

Baltimore Raven quarterback said the following in reference to himself “I mean, I think I’m the best. I don’t think I’m top five, I think I’m the best. I don’t think I’d be very successful at my job if I didn’t feel that way. I mean, c’mon? That’s not really too tough of a question.” he is being blasted for saying this and everyone from the man on the street to the sports pundits at the desk are taking him on for saying this, but isn’t this what we are taught to think? Don’t we want people to work hard and be assured that their hard work pays off? why do we blast someone for saying that they think they are the best? Tell me what you think.

Is Tebowing the same thing as Praying?

Tim Tebow is the NFL man of the moment. The young quarterback is deeply religious and he does not mind showing it. He bows in submission when he is successful. I always thought he was thanking God or praying in recognition of the fact that God was his source, but this act of prayer has been redefined as tebowing. To me it seems that there has been a secular name substituted for the act of praying. Am I wrong aren’t they the same thing tebowing and praying? It is interesting to hear sports pundits by into Tebow because he is currently winning, but when the Broncos lose and they will, will the new converts on the bandwagon scoff at tebowing or praying? Tell me what you think. I have linked to a story about teens tebowing.
