Donald Trump is a dangerous, reckless man

Donald Trump embraced the birther conspiracy and rode it into the White House. He only abandoned it or stopped talking about it when it no longer served his diabolical purpose. Many people thought that when he actually assumed office he would develop a presidential restraint, but we can see that is not happening. Last Tuesday night we saw a glimpse of a real president when he addressed a joint session of Congress and he some saw this as a real turning point but the change was short-lived. Over the weekend he returned to the real Donald…the reality tv Donald. He is the say anything Donald including accusing former President Obama of approving wiretapping at Trump Tower. He said this during one of his Twitter Fits over the weekend. He has nothing to back up his claims other than articles written by his conspiracy theorists pals. It is painful to see his minions come on camera and attempt to defend the indefensible. They are calling for an investigation. An investigation of what? The media is making an effort to hold their feet to the fire as they continue defense of the indefensible. President Obama never really called Trump a liar but now is the time. When you are in a street fight it comes a time that you have to put the rules on the shelve and fight fist for fist. Trump has to be stopped. He is the president but it is time to call a lie a lie and this is not a case of “alternative facts” this is simply straight up lying.

Black college presidents meet with the president and face backlash on campus…what is the expectation?

The other day a group of presidents of HBCUs met with President Trump. Their students were not happy with the decision, but what should they have done? What will be accomplished if they do not have conversations with the current POTUS? Read the linked story and share your thoughts.

President’s Day makes us take a critical look at the current one

Today we celebrate the Presidents. Over the past 240 years we have had 45 men occupy the office. We have not always agreed with their stance on issues, but we have respected the office. In 2017 that has become difficult, but not impossible. We have got to respect the office, but the current occupant has to earn our respect, and that can not be achieved when the occupant is fast and loose with the truth. When we hear him talking about what happened in Sweden last night, and the Swedes ask “what is he smoking?” We have to recognize we have a problem. Throughout the campaign he made outrageous statements to the cheers of his adoring 40% and many said after the victory he would start acting presidential, but he has not changed. He is still loose with the tongue and that is to our detriment. Yes, he is the president and we can give up on the ridiculous thought that at some point he will start acting presidential. That is simply not going to happen.

Donald Trump Press Conference lets us see him up close and personal

Yesterday I watched the Donald Trump press conference. What can I say that has not been said? It was a circus and he was the agitated ringmaster. Whining and complaining were the words of the day. Trump has been called a sore winner and I believe that is a well deserved name. He yearns for total adoration and that is simply not going to happen. So I guess we have more of these sideshows in our future.

How many children have to die?

Two little girls were shot in the head this weekend in Chicago. This morning one of them Takiya Holmes died. She was only 11 years old. She was sitting in the backseat of her mother’s car. She was the victim of a stray bullet. It was likely shot by a gang member trying to hit another gang member and the girl was the unfortunate victim of their reckless shooting. At this point they have no suspects. So how do we stop this senseless killing? The law of the hood is still “snitches get stitches”. So what has to happen for people to start talking? Gang members used to simply kill each other but now the innocent are losing their lives. How can this be stopped? More policing? The police can not be everywhere. Should the federal government intervene? Something has got to give. We grieve with the family but sadly grief is not enough. Somebody has to be accountable or this will simply be the new normal. Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer…hilarious or simply cruel?

Last week when Melissa McCarthy did her Sean Spicer imitation I thought it was hilarious, but this week it seemed a little cruel. Share your thoughts.

Donald Trump now fighting with Nordstrom who is next?

The latest from POTUS-“My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!” Really the president is lashing out at one of his daughter’s business interest. I thought he was out of the business world? Share your thoughts.

Welcome to the Donald Trump Show

Tonight President Trump will name his Supreme Court nominee. It will be done at 8PM Eastern time. There are two candidates and both men have been flown into to DC. The press said he has made his decision but he reserves the right to change his mind. It’s dramatic television. The kind of thing that a showman loves. He wants to keep us guessing. This is a show but it really is not. It is just another chapter in this reality show that we have unwillingly become a part of.

What the heck are “alternative facts”?

Facts are facts. 2 + 2 = 4. There is no debate. It is a fact. Donald Trump is president and that is a fact, but some of the things his aides are saying and trying to pawn off as facts are not. Today Kellyanne Conaway coined a phrase “alternative facts”, and this is troubling. There are no alternative facts it is either true or false no in between. If your child gave you alternative facts you would punish them. Donald Trump uttered a lot of alternative facts during the campaign season, but the season is over and now the alternative reality has to become a distant memory and now the Trumpsters have to start dealing with the real facts.

The Donald Trump Era Really Begins Today

Yesterday a friend of mine asked me my opinion of the inauguration. I accept the reality of the Trump presidency but I have no intention of celebrating it. Trump won the election but this is a day for him and his supporters. Trump has already signed executive orders eliminating a program that helped first time homebuyers. He is doing what he promised and unfortunately what he promised is not going to be good for everyone. So eat, drink and be merry you won.
