Will Trevor Noah be the latest to die death by 140 characters?

In this Twitter age people feel the need to share all aspects of their lives via Twitter. People in show business feel they have to  be funny and witty, but some of their tweets come back to haunt them. Yesterday Comedy Central anointed Trevor Noah as the successor to Jon Stewart. Somebody failed to cull through his Twitter history and now we are reading tweets that many deem offensive. Will Noah lose the job before he gets a chance to sit in the seat? Noah might just be one of the latest to convicted of Twitter suicide…death by 140 characters.

Comedy Central Must be Stopped from Mocking Jesus Christ and We Can Stop them

One of the shows Comedy Central has in development is JC “the concept is to depict Christ as a “regular guy” who moves to New York to “escape his father’s enormous shadow.” With all the subjects available to their writing staff please tell me why would they choose Jesus as a comedic foil? Comedy Central is known for its irreverent humor, but even they have bowed to pressure from the Islamic community. “Comedy Central was the target of an Internet threat this spring from a Muslim group for a South Park episode that supposedly showed Muhammad in a bear costume. Like other media organizations, it resists showing a depiction of Muhammad because many Muslims consider a physical description of the prophet to be blasphemous. Such depictions of Muhammad in other media have resulted in death threats by fundamentalist Muslims against the purveyors.” So since some factions of the Muslim community have threatened violent retribution for depicting their highest religious figure in a comedic or unflattering light Comedy Central backed down. Well, Christians are not going to threaten violence, but we can boycott any company that sponsors this show. This show does not deserve to see the light of day but if it does let’s make sure its showing is short-lived. What is the point of Comedy Central’s South Park?

Some television shows you know are not for you. Comedy Central South Park is one of those shows. I am not a part of their target audience. I choose not to watch it, but on more than one occasion I have read about the different groups this show has offended “In the past week, the Comedy Central show has hit the headlines with two different religious controversies: (1) The show’s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and the co-creator of Avenue Q are producing a Broadway musical based on the Book of Mormon, and (2) in a recent episode about censorship, South Park “depicted” the Prophet Muhammad as a giant teddy bear and consequently received a veiled threat from a fringe Muslim organization.”* This show seems to take more than its fair shots at organized religion and it is no small wonder why. In an interview in 2006, Parker told ABC News: “All the religions are super funny to me,” Parker said. “The story of Jesus makes no sense to me. God sent his only son. Why could God only have one son and why would he have to die? It’s just bad writing, really. And it’s really terrible in about the second act.”* What is interesting about this latest dust up is this show has taken shots at Catholicism, Judaism, Christianity, Mormons and Scientology and none of these groups have issued any death threats, but the Muslims might not be a charitable as the aforementioned groups. Some people take their faith very seriously. They would die for it and some cases they will kill for it.
