Why did the word “submit” make Barbara Walters so crazy?

Ephesians 5: 22-25 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,Today Candace Cameron Bure was a guest host on The View. She is a Christian woman and she said that she submits to her husband. The word submit seemingly drove Barbara Walters crazy. It is interesting that women like Walters say they support the choices of all women, but when a woman says she submits to her husband she is looked at as less than. Bure attempted to explain what submit meant in her marriage and Sherri Shepard even added her two cent, but Walters could not let it go. She even asked Dr. Phil his opinion about submission, but if a man loves his wife like Christ loved the church there will be no problem with submission. It is funny that the ladies of The View celebrate the union of two women, but berate a woman who makes the choice to submit to her husband. In 2014 some choices are celebrated while others are mocked…is that equality?

When did Praying become Tebowing?

From the land of the ridiculous. Listen to the announcers say Von Miller is doing a Tebow. Let’s get this straight when he bowed down he was giving honor to the greater one-God, not Tim Tebow. Please stop the madness.

Will there be an Exodus from the Democratic Party?

Someone sent me this flyer today. I don’t think that Christians will flee the Democratic party, but scenes like yesterday’s split decision on whether to include God in the platform will give some people in the Christian community pause. It is easy to dismiss this as a non issue, but I think the party does this at their own peril. Share your thoughts.

Jesse Campbell blew the audience away on The Voice

It is not often that you get to watch network television and actually know someone that is performing, but last night I had that rare opportunity. Jesse Campbell appeared on the NBC show The Voice and blew the audience away. Campbell has a voice that is a true gift from God. Last night he mentioned that he was from Maywood, Illinois, but I had the opportunity to hear him at a church on the west side of Chicago. His father WJ Campbell pastored St. James Church of God in Christ. Jesse would often lead songs with the choir and at a young age it was apparent that the boy had a “gift”. In the church far too often people are hailed for being gifted and it is not the truth, but in this case it was not people paying deference to a PK (Pastor’s Kid) it was genuine. It was heartwarming to hear his testimony and truly gratifying to hear his voice. He does have a voice and it was wonderful to see him get the opportunity to showcase it on a wider stage.

Teacher takes “gay” out of Deck the Halls…was she right or wrong?

A Michigan elementary teacher was attempting to teach her students the Christman carol, Deck the Halls. Every time they got to the stanza “don we now our gay apparel” they would laugh. The teacher made the unilateral decision to change the words to “don we now our bright apparel”. The principal has ordered her to change it back. What do you think?

Church Folks versus Christians, don’t be deceived they are not the same

I love Christians, but I can’t stand Church folks. Some will ask what’s the difference? Well here’s a list:

Church folks tear down other members.

Christians build up everyone they meet.

Church folks act like they are happy for your successes.

Christians really are actually happy for your success.

Church folks are extremely critical.

Christians will give correction, but they will always do it in love.

Church folks will give big so they can be viewed as big shots.

Christians cheerfully give what they have no matter how much it is.

Church folks worry and fret about what they wear to church.

Christians realize what is in the inside is more important than what is on the outside.

Church folks have a need to be seen doing good things.

Christians simply do good things

Church folks will come and see you when you are sick and tell everybody they did it.

Christians will come and see you, bring you a meal, and clean your house and not tell a soul.

Church folks say they love everybody.

Christians actually show love for everybody.

This is far from an inclusive list. Feel free to add to the list via the comment section.

Christmas 2010-Why I Believe

The gifts are unwrapped and it is time to start cooking. Everyone is happy with what they received.  We are so blessed and so thankful because we know the real reason for the season, and we believe in the miracle of Jesus. Throughout the year I will debate political topics and often after reading some of the comments I might have a change of heart, but I don’t debate my faith. You either believe or you don’t. That’s the beauty of it you can accept it or reject it, it is up to you. Now it is time to stop blogging and start cooking. To Everyone who reads the blog have a Merry Christmas and we’ll get back to politics next week.

Fox News Brit Hume Tells Tiger to Convert to Christianity to Find Redemption

First let me say that I am a Christian, but I do not think that a news broadcast should be used as a pulpit. Today on Fox News Sunday “Reverend”  Brit Hume stepped up to the “pulpit” and said that Tiger Woods needs to convert to Christianity if he wants redemption. He went on to say that he did not think the Buddhist religion offered a real path to redemption.  Hume said “The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith.  He is said to be a Buddhist. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger would be, ‘Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.” This is not the forum for this conversation. If someone had dared to say this kind of thing about Christianity on the Fox Network their microphone would have suddenly gone dead. To say this crossed the line is an understatement.

The 51st State: FEAR

Decades ago FDR said “we have nothing to fear, but fear itself.” My pastor often says Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real. Both of these statements are meant to embolden us in the face of adversity or uncertainty. What happens when the evidence is real? We have plenty of things to fear. We see so many people losing their jobs and those of us who still have jobs fear that any day we could be in the unemployment line. When you operate out of fear you are not operating out of a position of strength and that is when you tend to not necessarily act in your long-term best interests. As we watch the news we are bombarded with new fears on a daily basis. It is not that we don’t accept our reality, but we have got to learn to see beyond the immediate. So how do you operate in this time of fear? I choose to walk by faith. If I did not have faith to sustain me in these very difficult times then I would have no hope. Because in spite of my faith these are very scary times but I do believe that we will get through them

Let me know what you are doing to get through these turbulent times.
