Fat shaming Kelly Clarkson and other insults to women

Fox Chris Wallace recently took a potshot at Kelly Clarkson. Clarkson recently had a baby and she has not shed the baby weight, but that’s really her business. The rest of the world feels they have a right to criticize her weight and Wallace is the latest talking head to take a shot at the pop star. Clarkson is not the first nor will she be the last woman to be criticized for her weight, her age or simply her looks. Sarah Wallace, former WABC (NY) was recently fired. This award=winning newswoman is 59 years old, and that is old for a woman, but it is seasoned for a man. Woman in their 50s are consider old and men in their 50s are not painted with that same brush. Hillary Clinton will soon announce she is running for the highest office in the land, but we know that there will be considerable talk about her hair, her makeup and her clothes. The male candidates will not receive the kind of scrutiny that Clinton has and will receive. Fat shaming, hair shaming, look shaming all are a part of the life of a woman. Share your thoughts.

Chris Wallace Apology: http://www.people.com/article/chris-wallace-apology-kelly-clarkson-weight

Fox News Chris Wallace asks Michele Bachman if she is a flake…would he have asked a man this question?

I am not a fan of Michele Bachman, but today she appeared on Fox News and I have to comment on one of the questions. Fox News is generally a friendly venue for Republicans, but today Bachman did not find the friendly confines too friendly. Chris Wallace said that Bachman had made some rather out there statements in the past, and he followed that up by asking her if she was a “flake?” She responded by saying she was insulted and she immediately started rattling off her accomplishments. My question is would Wallace have posed this question to a male candidate? Don’t get me wrong I see the need for questioning candidates on their words and actions, but the word flake seems dismissive and one has to wonder would he have chosen the same word to question a man who  verbalized a similar stance on the issues. Tell me what you think.

UPDATE: Chris Wallace apologizes.

Bill O’Reilly says John Boehner has to get a handle on his emotions

Does John Boehner’s crying undermine his credibility as a leader? Bill O’Reilly asked the question. Barbara Walters says she thinks he has an emotional problem. It’s 2011 not 1911 shouldn’t a man be able to cry without being labeled a “sissy” according to O’Reilly. Tell me what you think. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/29/oreilly-boehner-crying-credbility_n_815784.html?ref=email_share

Fox News Gives Rush Limbaugh An Open Microphone to Attack the President

As the White House continues its feud with Fox News they call in the big dog: Rush Limbaugh. They gave him 30 minutes of their news show to go off on the president. Limbaugh said “I know this is going to sound controversial but I don’t think he cares. He went on to say “If he cared about it, Chris if he cared about it we’ve got soldiers and their families worrying about what we are going to do.” The fact that he does care is why this decision deserves thoughtful, reflective thinking. To accuse the president of not caring is very wrong and very cynical, but it is vintage Limbaugh. This is part of the right’s continued effort to paint the president as “other”. Limbaugh was pretty much unchallenged by the host Chris Wallace as he attacked the president. When we witness this type of bias we see why the White House is at war with Fox news.

Why is Fox News Chris Wallace Whining?

President Obama has chosen to appear on every news network except for Fox News. Could it be that Fox News is the network that bashes him 24/7. Could it be that Sean Hannity deliberately misquotes the president to make a point? Could it be that Glenn Beck has called him a racist?  Why would he come to a place that has decided that he is wrong even before he starts talking?
