Ryan Lochte lied and destroyed property, is he a thug?

The reaction to Ryan Lochte’s illegal activities can be described in one word-muted. He and his band of swimming brothers went out for a night on the town in Rio. They partied and then they destroyed property. They were detained by the police and then Lochte lied about the details. He came home to the US and his party buddies are left to answer questions. So where is the outrage? Why aren’t we hearing the talking heads vilifying him or demanding an apology? No one has called him a thug. So tell me why aren’t these gold medal winning swimmers being crucified by the press? You don’t have to tell me I know the answer.

Seriously, you don’t think there’s any outrage? This has been in the news for several days, and they’re not letting it go. Perhaps you were expecting folks to march in the street or something, but no, I think people are demonstrating they’re not happy about this. Has he been labeled a thug? No. But this is something that will haunt him, probably for the rest of his public career. People will point to this like they point to dog fighting and Michael Vick. If this sweeps under the rug I will be extremely surprised and disappointed.

Where is the outrage, please? You seem to be so blinded by racism that you can’t even see objectively. It must be awfully painful to live with that boogeyman.
