Why are some black people supporting Donald Trump?

Why are they supporting Donald Trump? These blacks are smiling and ready to share their belief, but I wonder why? If you know tell me but don’t tell me all the things wrong with Hillary Clinton tell me what is right about Donald Trump.

    I’m sorry to have to put it this way, but the problem is with us, not the candidates. There are a lot of ignorant people who will fall for con jobs, and suckers come in all colors. That’s why we have two candidates with high negatives, because too many ordinary Americans aren’t capable of deep thought. If you don’t demand high quality (and can’t tell the difference), you won’t get it. It’s so much easier to promote via the seniority system (Democrats), or to grab at something shiny (GOP).

    EM, if your question was “why are these people supporting Donald Trump” that would be one thing. But your question is “Why are some BLACK people supporting Donald Trump?” That changes everything. I’ve been reading and following your blog for years, so I know you don’t need the “all blacks don’t look and think alike” lecture. But I’m at a loss as to how you could pose your question as if there is no such thing as a black conservative. We exist. We are real. Our political beliefs are as genuine as any other. They support him because he is the GOP candidate. Yes, Donald Trump is a flawed candidate. I hate that he made it through the long, arduous process to get the nomination. But he made it, and we don’t get a do over. Trump has said some bone headed things, been politically incorrect, petty, off message, you name it. That in and of itself will not persuade me that the party that gave birth to the Klan, the party that sees me as too stupid to fend for myself, the party that punishes success and rewards sloth, is the party to keep in the White House. These people-particularly Diamond and Silk- are true believers from day one. Why can’t you respect that?

      Elogam, you have been reading the blog for years and I have great respect for you. You disagree with me often but never in a snide disrespectful manner. Yes i respect the fact there are black conservatives but Trump has not proven himself to be conservative. He is a bully and he does not seem to be reflective of the conservative values you espouse.

        You are correct, he is not a conservative, I can’t stand that he won the nomination. But I still think it odd- and unusual for you- to ask why these BLACK people support him. You pose the question as if blacks supporting Trump is inconceivable on its face. Blacks want many of the things he’s selling: border security, a more robust economy, repeal and replace of Obamacare, and maybe they don’t trust Clinton. I hope you won’t find my response to be sarcastic or disrespectful; that’s not my style. I’m just telling it as I see it.

    Two references;
    1. Defense Mechanism: * Identification with the Aggressor
    A focus on negative or feared traits. I.e. if you are afraid of someone, you can practically conquer that fear by becoming more like them.

    An extreme example of this is the Stockholm Syndrome, where hostages identify with the terrorists. E.g. Patty Hearst and the Symbionese Liberation Army. Patty was abused and raped by her captors, yet she joined their movement and even took part in one of their bank robberies. At her trial she was acquitted because she was a victim suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

    2, An application of the above: Jews for Hitler

    My guess would be the anti-immigrant sentiment in the view that immigrants take jobs.

    Love your blog.

      Seriously? They support him because they have psychological issues? If I were to opine something along the lines of everyone supporting Clinton despite her huge negatives had a plantation mentality similar to that of the Samuel L. Jackson character in “Django Unchained”, you’d probably object. Well, you’ve pretty much done the same thing. Please educate yourself. Black Republicans exist. They have looked at the world and chosen a philosophy different from yours. Their beliefs are as viable as yours. Be honest enough to respect that and not think people who disagree with you have psychological issues.
