NY Mayor Bill deBlasio defends CP time joke and says people are missing the point…really?

Mayor Bill deBlasio defends the CP time joke and says people are missing the point. deBlasio is married to a black woman and he probably feels comfortable saying this, but maybe he needs to keep this kind of talk in the residence. Not funny and no politician would share a joke featuring a Jewish stereotype to a group of Jews. Why is this appropriate? It’s not. Share your thoughts.

I don’t believe that either Hilary Clinton, or Bill DeBlasio was thinking about a free pass in regards to the statement of “Running on CP time!” truly I believe they were simply not THINKING! It was a “joke” in poor taste YES, but a joke non the less! I don’t understand why we as a people freely say offensive things to, and about each other, than get angry, upset, and even MAD when others repeat what they’ve heard! CP time is indeed a hideous way of saying most, or some African-American work slowly, disregard, or do things in their own time… How many times have you, and I heard this particular sentiment stated “Lord, I hope this event don’t start on CP time!” and laughing agreed with the person saying it? I personally believe for those of us who know better, we’ve GOT to DO BETTER. Especially if we don’t want words to come back and bite at our self- esteem. Work at being very careful what you put out into the world! Two quotes I use often are this one by Pearl Strachan Hurd “Handle them carefully, for WORDS have more POWER than atom bombs.” The 2nd fits the situation even better Don Miguel Ruiz said ” Be impeccable with your words. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using words to speak against yourself, or to gossip about others. Use the power of your words in the direction of truth and love.” It’s my belief if we do more of this, the world will only be a better for it!
