What do you call a Reagan Democrat?

Ronald Reagan has been out of office for over 30 years. When he ran for office the term “Reagan Democrat” was coined. He was able to get disenchanted Democrats to cross over and vote for him. They existed than but they no longer exist now they are simply Republicans. The media keep referring to them as Reagan Democrats but this group abandoned the Democratic party and they are not looking back. So please let’s stop the nonsense and call them what they really are: Republicans.

I can’t imagine how you concluded that “Reagan Democrats” no longer exist but they do. They are among the 20,000 Democrats in Massachusetts, 46,000 in Pennsylvania, thousands in Iowa and Ohio who recently switched to the Republican party to be eligible to vote in the Republican primaries. They are largely blue collar workers who have seen their jobs shipped offshore and who have suffered unfair competition from illegal immigrants who have taken their jobs by accepting lower wages. O yea, they exist and America will be hearing from them loudly and clearly at the next election.

They are called “Reagan Democrats” because in the past, at least, their political views were generally aligned with the Democrat party but they crossed over to support Reagan. With the likes of far left Democrats like Clinton and Sanders, those who go as far as to change party affiliation in order to vote in the Republican primaries are likely to remain in the Republican Party.

I know what Reagan Democrats were but Reagan has been out of office over 30 years. If this block has been voting Republican since that time they are simply Republicans.
