Zoe Saldana is playing the role of the dark-skinned Nina Simone and a lot of people do not like it. Recently some scenes from the biopic have been released and Saldana is wearing dark skin makeup and a prosthetic nose. It is interesting to hear people say this role should have gone to a dark skinned actress, but is this right? For weeks we have talked about #OscarsSoWhite and the need for more roles for people of color. The need to be considered for more roles. Asking directors to broaden their perspective and choose the best actor to play the role regardless of color. So is this simply a racial distinction? Does the Nina/Zoe controversy smack of hypocrisy?
