Armed Militia versus Unarmed Protesters…who is more dangerous?

It is interesting watching these armed militia men occupying federal property. They say they are there for the long haul and they are not being forced from the space, but look at how urban police deal with unarmed protesters. They actually come prepared for battle. What is the difference in these two scenarios? This is a rhetorical question. I know the answer.

I suspect that it is reasonable to believe that authorities confront protesters being prepared to deter any physical threat they might perceive. The perceived threats may very well be influenced by any similar confrontations that have occurred.

To me the answer is obvious, but probably different from what you’re thinking. When the cops roll up on you, and you are unarmed, they do not have to treat you with any particular respect. They are in charge, and you just need to follow their orders. When you are armed, in control, trained and knowledgable, and they know this, they have to accord you a higher level of respect.
