Marketing Fear: Isis and the Media

Isis has the whole world on alert. They are killers that show no mercy. What they do is news and worthy of reporting, but has the media gone too far? Over the past few days have they moved from reporting the events to marketing fear? The networks show the huge graphics Terror in Paris. They play videos showing the violence and the carnage over and over again. What is the point and what is this doing to the public? Share your thoughts.

Personally, I think we should stop calling it terrorism, or them, terrorists. Call them what the are. Murderers, thugs, criminals. “Terrorist” is something they aspire to, because it’s an admission that we are terrorized. Why give them that satisfaction?

We’re just scaring ourselves silly, and causing relatively smart people to say and do stupid things out of fear. A fear that won’t be realized by 99.999% of the population of this county, even if they are successful in coming here and killing a few people. If we’re not afraid of some home grown nut case killing first graders in an elementary school, or church worshipers in a church, and are not willing to do anything about that, why should we be scared of some wacky extremest intent on starting a war in the middle east?

Wow, I can’t believe it, but I actually agree with Spanish Inquisitor!!!! Now, just to put a little wedge of space between us, I do think that it’s necessary to label this scum as radical Islamists. We are not at war with ISLAM; we are at war with their extremists, and it would behoove mainstream Muslims to address this wing of their faith for the good of all mankind.
