Last month we saw a group of frat brothers sing a racist song while on the way to a frat formal dinner. This was captured on videotape and the two ringleaders were expelled from school. One of the singers reached out to some local black leaders and apologized for his actions. They accepted his apology and actually appeared on stage at a press conference with him. Last night I watched the family of Walter Scott talk to the media. His mother said she has forgiven the policeman that took her son’s life. She forgives a man who fired 8 bullets at her son. It was videotape that showed how the policeman took the life of Walter Scott. So how can you forgive someone who kills a loved one? That’s a question I can’t answer, but what I will say is I would be hard pressed to do it this quickly.
Do black people forgive too quickly?
