He deserved an opportunity to be on the list to get another heart and he had a chance to change his life around, but he decided to take another path in life. My biggest question with this story is, why did his mother, Melencia Hamilton tell her son’s mentor, Mack Major, that he was no longer needed? Mr. Major and other organizations helped this family get their story out in the media and he continued to mentor to the young man for at least a year after his surgery, and from my understanding, the young man was staying out of trouble and seemed to be trying to change his life around. My heart goes out to his family, but I also wonder why mom would end the mentorship relationship, that family needed that extended support and now a young man is dead because he wanted to live a fast life.
