I hope so. McConnell has said he wants to get back to “regular rules” where Senators actually discuss and debate things, and the Majority Leader allows bills to be amended by the minority party and then sent to the President. Reid, in an effort to “protect his majority” and also prevent the president from having to come out against anything that offended his donor base, made a nice neat stack at the bottom of his desk drawer for all the bills-many of them bipartisan- passed in the House and refused to allow them to even be debated. That is not what our government is all about.

The GOP is also on notice. The people of this nation made it clear that Harry Reid’s version of government wasn’t acceptable. If this devolves into a partisan mess, with more filibustering and rule changes and finger pointing, there will be another reckoning in 2016, and that’s a presidential year. Historically democrats do better in presidential years, so McConnell needs results.
