Fast food workers are striking in many big cities today. What do they want? They want the minimum wage raised to $15. What do you think?

Nobody pays anyone more than is necessary to do a job. Nobody pays anyone to do a job based on the income they need to live on. The pay is based on the requisite skills, the value the job adds to the business and the difficulty in finding employees with the necessary skills to do the job. It isn’t very difficult to find individuals with the skills needed to flip burgers, therefore that job does not command high pay. The answer to earning higher wages is to increase your skills that add value to an employers enterprise.

If you have ever wondered why medical doctors earn so much more than the average person, it is because they were willing to endure the rigors of studying difficult courses for many years while deferring earnings. So few people are willing to do that which is why proportionately there are so few of them and they can command high incomes.
