I mean he is not “our leader” per say, but he is a name in our corner, and it is time someone said something. It is open season on people of color there, especially the Black male. That is why we moved to France, because I didn’t want to have my future children in that environment.

At one time I used to be embarrssed when Al showed up on the scene. I thought him an opportunist and maybe he is but I also see growth and maturity in him that was not there in the eighties. I would love if we had a Malcolm X on the scene to be a voice for our community but we don’t. What we have are preachers in their lyrical, sometimes viewed as clownish denoucements of our injustices. He may not be my first pick for anything but he is out there and he does bring attention so I don’t think he will hurt.
