This Washington Post magazine cover pricked a nerve

wp cover 12-29-13
My plan for this Sunday was simple. Church. Pick up a sub and pick up the Washington Post. Watch the Ravens and take a nap, but this cover drove me to the computer. First, let’s agree that this was not a banner year for the President, but did he deserve to be depicted with this trio? The admitted crack smoking Toronto mayor, the performance enhancing drug using disgraced former cyclist champion and the twerking former Hanna Montana? The president should not be included with this group, and to add insult to injury they gave him a black eye. Washington Post really…the president deserves better than this.

Without the black eye, it wouldn’t make any sense to include the president is any kind of year in review. He’s the president; he will always be prominent in any year. What qualified him in the top of the year’s media stories is how bruised up he was/is because of the ACA rollout and broken promise and the NSA privacy issues. Speaking as a member of the media who spent years covering national politics, I’m certain his inclusion with the other three wasn’t about comparing him to them, their actions or reputations but simply comparing the size of the stories each generated to each other. I would argue that the president’s bruising and significantly diminished approval rating is the greatest of the four stories and couldn’t possibly have been left out.

The president did not break any promises. Promises are commitments that are made in earnest. He lied because he knew prior to making those commitments concerning the ACA that they could not possibly be honored. They should have shown him with a ten inch nose.

It’s called satire and every president in history has been on the other end of satire. President Bush, a man who TRULY loved this country suffered from this almost daily and the liberals cackled with glee.
President Obama is the worst president in the last 100 years plus. He has no accomplishments and only failures to mark his legacy…he deserves it. Not only that, he BELONGS on that cover.

<> One’s first thought is that our president is being compared to the actions and reputations of the others in the picture. It’s disrespectful.
