Interesting article in The Atlantic, read it and share your thoughts.
All of the white bleeding heart liberals in America are responsible for this conundrum. And they are damned if they do and they are damned if they don’t. Even if Oprah’s performance is deserving of an Oscar, should the Academy risk being characterized as racist by awarding it to her since she played a stereotypical role, which I seriously suspect was at her own choosing? Or should they just avoid that risk and give it to someone else. Take note that I used the word give.
Until white America grows a pair and stop running for the tall grass out of fear of the “R” word, this nonsense will continue in perpetuity. When they get the courage to just deal with black people equally and fairly and not even acknowledge any baseless charges of racism, this will cease.
I am an Oprah fan. I really liked the movie, also her performance. I don’t deem it Oscar worthy, however.
