I once forgot my now wife’s* surname in the middle of an introduction .
She was sitting between the person to whom i was introducing her and me .
As I recall , we were engaged , and my lapse was not well received
We had been dating for nearly three years .

The Governor , whose name ▬► I ◄▬ do not recall , could have said “The Speaker of the Assembly , whose name I do not recall , …” had he in fact failed to recall her name

He should apologize only if he regrets his statement and not because it may be the politically correct thing to do ..

    * Married 16,932 days as of noon today , assuming she does not kill me within the next 78 minutes ☺

Such irony. The politically liberal left in this country see everything through the prism of race but when one who is outside of the club identifies an African American by race it is an insult. The fact is, the speaker’s race is germane to the discussion because school choice vouchers can emancipate African American school kids who are stuck in substandard, failing schools. I would bet that she purports to serve the best interest of those poor black kids. But the truth is she is far more likely operating to serve the interest of the teacher’s unions which are vehemently opposed to any options for public school kids.
