Dutton and Lonette McKee hits select theathers today. “It’s a mentor-child relationship, with a mentor who is desperate and can teach the child only how to be as desperate as he is. It’s Fagin and Oliver Twist, bleaker than Dickens could have imagined. I’ll stop now. I won’t reveal any more of the plot as the film descends into despair,” says Roger Ebert, chicago Sun-times.
