Ann Curry’s last day as Today Show anchor

This morning Ann Curry confirmed what we have all heard. Today was her last day as a co-host on the formerly number one morning show. Sure she will leave with a boatload of money, but it was obvious that she loved her job and it was taken away from her. She has been positioned as if she alone is responsible for the recent ratings drop. She took the fall and as usual she did it with grace. Curry will be missed. Share your thoughts.

Not surprising. I like Ann Curry and there is no doubt that she did her best but Matt Lauer and herself never had any chemistry.

She was not treated well. She was passed over for years and than when they finally give her the position they fire her in less than a year. She deserved the position, she worked hard for it. I hope she creates a new project (not with NBC) for herself and it takes off like gang busters.
    I sincerely wish her well.

In the broadcasting world the only thing that determines who deserves what is ratings. That’s the measurent for calculating advertising rates.

Curry’s tenure on the show represents the worst stretch in the ratings in nearly two decades. THE TODAY SHOW had not lost a single week in the ratings since 1996 but has been beaten by GOOD MORNING AMERICA for times this spring.

It’s just business. Most people in that business understand the risk involved. But then considering the ten million severence package she’s due, it sounds as if it’s worth the risk to me.
