Tyler Perry tells it all on Oprah, was it TMI?

Today Tyler Perry shared the pain of his abusive childhood. He told stories of abuse from his father, a neighbor that molested him, and a man at the church. It was painful to watch him relive the pain, but as I watch it I wonder why does he feel the need to share so much? He recounts the time he tried to commit suicide, but he says he is sharing his story to help other people.  One can not help, but be a little cynical in light of the fact that Perry has a new movie coming out that delves into abusive situations. Some would say oh no he just wants to share his truth and Oprah is giving him the platform to do it, but some of his truths were shared with us on a 60 Minutes interview. Perry is the only one that really knows why he is speaking out now but some myself included believe some things are meant to be shared with your inner circle and not the entire universe.

Amanda Knox learned American Justice Does Not Exist in Italy

Last week American exchange student Amanda Knox was found guily of sexually assaulting and killing her roomate. She was sentenced to 26 years in an Italian prison. News reports here say that the police mishandled evidence and Knox claims she was physically abused by the police when she rendered her initial statement to the police. Italian journalists labeled Knox as “Foxy Knoxy”. Many slanderous news stories were written about her and the jury members had access to this material. Some contend an anti-American sentitment was another factor that led to her being found guilty. Knox plans on appealing her conviction and there is even talk of our government intervening, but what do we learn from this situation. We learn we can not expect to find our same system of justice in other countries. Knox has encountered Italian justice because her crime was committed on their soil not ours.
