How do we define terrorism? Must the act be done by Islamic extremists? The Boston Bombers set off bombs at the Boston marathon and they were immediately branded as terrorists. They targeted a public event and they killed and maimed many of the people in attendance. Yesterday 3 young men targeted a Mother’s Day parade and shot over 12 people. Should this also be defined as terrorism and if not why not?

I have been a fan of Survivor since the series started 13 years ago. It is compelling television to watch people leave their comfortable lives to come to deserted islands and learn how to survive with minimal help from series production. We have seen the best and the worst in people, and this cycle was no different. Two women characters were front and center last night. Brenda, the beautiful and selfless contestant who believed nice girls could actually win and weeping mom Dawn. Dawn would cry at the drop of a hat and proclaim her love for so many of her competitors. During the series Dawn actually lost her lower partial in a stream. Brenda heard her wailing in the woods and she ran to her rescue. Brenda dived in and retrieved her partial and Dawn proclaimed her love for Brenda but an episode later Dawn was the swing vote in voting Brenda off the island. Brenad actually thought the “island” friendship was genuine, but like all things on the island it was temporary. That brings us to last night’s finale. At the tribal council Brenda said that she had seen Dawn at her most vulnerable and Dawn had even said if she did not have her teeth she would have had to leave the game. Dawn backed off the statement at Tribal, but Brenda pressed her and demanded Dawn to take out her teeth and finally Dawn took them out and she looked horrible. The satisfied Brenda, but Dawn was not the only one that voted against Brenda, but Dawn was the only one that pretended to genuinely care about Brenda. The question is why did the winner of survivor who clearly stated he lied and deceived all the jury members get rewarded for his actions but Dawn got villified for her actions? The fact is Dawn and Cochran were in cahoots throughout the season but cochran walks away with a million dollars, Dawn walks away with pictures of her toothless floating around the Internet today. If you watched the Survivor finale share your thoughts.
The IRS has admitted scrutinizing Tea party organizations more closely than other organizations applying for a tax exempt status and that was wrong. In 2004 the NAACP was audited by the IRS was this the same thing? Was it wrong? Is this politics?
Did not know until yesterday that Abercrombie and Fitch carry dress sizes up to 10 and the average woman is a 14. They do not carry XL for women because they do not want plus size, over size, pleasingly plump or fat people shopping in their stores. They want that elusive All American cool, slim person with a pocket full of cash. So what’s the big deal? Lane Bryant is a store designed for plus size women. There are many stores designed for Big and Tall men. We call them speciality stores, but we call what want to label the Abercrombie model discrimination? What do you think? Recently I have been following Crystal Wright, Conservative Black Chick on Twitter. She is outspoken and I often disagree with her, but I must admit she does sometimes make some valid points. Read the linked story and share your thoughts.
Charles Ramsey showed he has the ability to tell a story. His account of the rescue of Amanda Berry has garnered him instant fame, but why? Why do people find his account fascinating? Is it the way he told the story? Is the the way he looks? Is it the fact that normally he would dwell among the invisible? Who are the invisible? They are people who live in a neighborhood often urban and they rarely venture out of it. I am not pretending to know Ramsey or his schedule, but I do know people like him. Their world is small and they are rarely called upon to talk to anyone that does not look like or talk like them. When he said it was odd for a little white girl to run into a black man’s arms he was not lying. Cleveland ranks in the 10 of segregated cities. I lived in Cleveland years ago and I chose to live on the west side because it was close to where I worked and once I started working there I was told I should have chosen the east side because more people of color lived on the east side. It is just interesting to see the reaction to Ramsey. He is seen as oh so different, but on his block he is the norm. Sadly, the reporters and the cameras don’t frequent his block unless a trio of deranged kidnappers are holding 3 women and children in their home for a decade, and how often does that happen? http://www.npr.org/blogs/codeswitch/2013/05/07/181982154/are-we-laughing-with-charles-ramsey?sc=tw
By now we have all heard Charles Ramsey’s account of helping free a Cleveland woman who was held captive for 10 years. Ramsey gave a colorful account of the incident, and that account has been autotuned. Listen and share your thoughts.
Nick Cannon made a statement today regarding American Idol Feud during an appearance on The Talk. He said that American Idol will be a footnote on Mariah Carey’s musical resume. Throughout the season she has been in a feud with her co-host the brash Nicki Minaj. The feud has often spilled over from the show into Twitter and other media outlets. It does seem that Carey’s talent would be better served in another venue. This show took a serious turn for the worse when Simon Cowell left and this season viewers are tuning out.
Fox News Andrea Tantaros takes a shot at Malia Obama…there is nothing like a grown woman attacking a child
Below you will find what Fox News analyst, Andrea Tantaros, had to say about the President’s daughter, Malia. whatever happened to simply discussing politics. when did it take this turn toward the personal. I know the answer it happened in January 2009.
TANTAROS: I mean look, if the president is going to talk about his daughters, typically I would not talk about the daughters, unless, of course, they go to the Bahamas on spring break and we have to pay for it and I think it’s wrong, which I do. But they’re not grown women. So I’m just wondering, at 15 years old, is the Obama daughter, Malia, going to go on birth control? Are they gonna put her on birth control? Because he’s very concerned with the contraceptives and pharmaceuticals that are going in the mouths of everybody else’s 15-year old daughter.
But it’s definitely collectivism, right? “It takes a village.” Do you hear it, everybody? “It takes a village to raise your kids.” President Obama is now the parent-in-chief. Kathleen Sebelius is raising your kids. Joe Biden is raising your kids. Oh not even, it doesn’t stop there. It’s not kids. They consider 15-year olds to be women. They want to tell grown women what to do. They know how grown women feel. They have no idea how women feel. They should stop talking about it, because they have no clue.

Please explain to me why a track team member would be disqualified for gesturing toward heaven? Aren’t we still a Christian nation? This is a rhetorical question. We used to wear that title proudly, but we have put it in the closet. Maybe one day it will come out of the closet and then we will celebrate.
