First lady bemoans culture of African Americans aspiring to be ‘a baller or a rapper’

Why do the Obamas use a lecturing tone when addressing African American audiences? Today First Lady Obama addressed Bowie State University and the headline above is how Politico saw her visit. Sure she congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments but that gets lost in the sauce. Why highlight the negative at a time of celebration. If she was addressing Princeton, Harvard or Brown would she bemoan the baller mentality? Don’t get me wrong there are young people who view being a baller as their only ticket out of the hood, but they were not the ones that were sitting before her in caps and gowns they simply desrve our applause.

Michelle Obama’s bangs might be fashion news, but they are not really news

Everyone seems to love the First Lady’s new bangs. I think they are cute, and I think discussions of her hair choices are approriate for fashion pages, but I must admit I was surprised that last night they were actually a news story on the NBC Nightly News. Yes, NBC anchor Brian Williams told us why she had opted for the bangs. Really, Brian with everything going on in the world you had time to talk about the First Lady’s hair? I guess if she parts her hair it would be worthy of a segment on CBS 60 Minutes. Walter Cronkite, David Brinkley, Harry Reasoner and other veteran journalists have to be flip flopping in their graves. Real news has been buried next to them. It probably is just part of the cultrue shift. The networks give the people what they want and obviously the people want the real deal on the bangs. Share your thoughts.

First Lady Obama will attend Hadiya Pendleton’s funeral…should she?

Michelle Obama will attend the funeral of slain student Hadya Pendleton. Obama is a Chicago native and Chicago’s homocide rate reached aan all time high last year, and so far this year 42 people have been killed. Some concerned citizens had created a petition asking the president to attend, but what would his presence accomplish? Some have asked why does the media carry extensive coverage of the Sandy Hook tragedy and vritually ignore the violence in urban areas? So is the White House bowing to pressure? What do you think? From the Ridiculous File: 9 year old boy says if Romney wins he’ll be a slave

I saw a link to this video on Twitter. It took me to a conservative website and I watched this innocent black boy say that he fears becoming a slave if Mitt Romney is elected. Let’s get real…not going to happen. the boy’s father is brought into the frame but he does not correct his son he only laughs which in fact is a form of affirmation. The headline of the article says this boy was attending a Michelle Obama rally. So is she responsible for this boy’s words? No. A couple of weeks ago a man attended a Mitt Romney rally with a tee shirt that said he wanted to put the “White back into the white House”. Was romney responsible for that? NO he was not. let’s get a grip and deal in the real world. Exploiting this child for political points is not good, and for his father to stand there and let it happen is even worse.

First Lady Michelle Obama was not responisble for the president’s poor debate performance

This evening I googled the first lady’s name and I saw a story attributing the president’s debate performance to the first lady. The article was in The Examiner and the headline said there were two sources putting the blame on Michelle Obama. The two sources: Bill Maher and Saturday Night Live. Let’s get real. They are not sources. Ann Romney Says We are Lucky to have Mitt so stop the sniping…we are lucky?

“During an interview early this evening with Radio Iowa, Mrs. Romney directly addressed her fellow Republicans who’ve criticized her husband.
“Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring,” she said. “This is hard and, you know, it’s an important thing that we’re doing right now and it’s an important election and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt’s qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country.” The criticism and very public hand wringing from Republicans comes as national polls show the race between Romney and President Obama is essentially tied. “It’s nonsense and the chattering class…you hear it and then you just let it go right by,” she told Radio Iowa. “…Honestly, at this point, I’m not surprised by anything.”*
So we are lucky? Can you imagine the backlash Mrs. Obama would get if she made a remark like this? If she told us how lucky we were to have President Obama as our president people would call her arrogant, elitist, you name it, but how will they characterize Ann romney? Share your thoughts.

Radio Announcer suggest the First Lady should appear in National Geographic…should he apologize or does it matter?

SOURCE: (CBS News) A small-town rodeo is attracting some national attention as the event’s announcer made a joke over the PA system that has offended some. The announcer at a local rodeo in San Louis Obispo County, Calif., is coming under fire for a joke about First Lady Michelle Obama, which some said was racist.”Playboy is offering Ann Romney $250,000 to pose in the magazine, and the White House is upset about it because National Geographic only offered Michelle Obama $50 to pose for them,” the San Lois Obispo Tribune reported how audience member Dona Wilson recounted the joke. At least one member of the Creston Classic Rodeo has called on the announcer, Ed Kutz, to apologize. “I can’t speak for the board, but I myself think that this is unacceptable behavior or conduct by the announcer,” said Mike Barrett in The Tribune. “I find it offensive, and I think that it’s conduct unbecoming the rodeo announcer.” According to the rodeo’s website, Creston is a small town on the Central California coast. The annual rodeo attracts cowboys and cowgirls from around California to compete in the three-day event “that carries on the tradition of the hard-working pioneers that founded Creston.”*
