Last night Donald Trump was not pleased with President Obama’s victory, and he took to Twitter to express his feelings. Trump tweeted the following: “Well, back to the drawing board!” “We can’t let this happen. We should march on Washington and stop this travesty. Our nation is totally divided!” “Lets fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us.”"This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy!” “Our country is now in serious and unprecedented trouble…like never before.” “Our nation is a once great nation divided!” “The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy.” NBC anchor Brian Williams called Trump out and called him irrelevant. Trump not to be undone called Williams a dummy and said that williams wished he had his ratings. My question is how does this make NBC look? The star of a reality show calls your evening anchor a dummy and you do nothing about it? If williams is to be respected as the grand oracle of the network do you just stand by and let ringmaster Trump take potshots at him, but this is also the network that allowed trump to trumpet his make believe run for the presidency and this is also the network that let Trump verbalize his birtherism ideas with impunity. So I guess I answered my own question. They will never cut him loose because while he is a loudmouth, he is also a money making newsmaker and that trumps a respected journalist any day.

Tonight I was watching NBC News and their coverage of the London riots. Martin Fletcher was covering the story and he decided to interview three black boys. He asked them why did they think the people were rioting. My question is why did he feel the need to interview the children? They weren’t rioting so why the need to ask them their opinions? Where were their parents? Did he bother to get the parent’s permission? Just last week the local CBS affliate in Chicago interviewed a 4 year old after a shooting in his neighborhood and asked him what did he think about the shooting. He said when he grew up he was going to get a gun. The clip ended there giving the impression that the 4 year old was a future thug. They cut out the part where the child said he was going to be a policeman when he grew up. That did not play into their narrative. So what was the motive behind interviewing the black kids regarding the London riots? I don’t know but it is something wrong about it. Tell me what you think.

Today we watched the Cairo protest dissolve into chaos. Yesterday we saw jublilant pro-democracy protesters, and today we saw opposition forces doing what ever was necessary to disperse the crowd. NBC Lester Holt said “just showing a camera can make you a target.” CNN Anderson Cooper said rocks were being thrown at Him and his crew. I was amazed to see men on camels riding into the crowd. It seems like it is time for the American journalists to do what other Americans are doing and that is to get out of Cairo. There are other safer means of getting a story. This is a big story but it is time for American Journalists to pack up their cameras and go.

The birthers refuse to die. They still push the narrative that the president is not a real American, and the Republicans cheer them on. No they don’t say you go girl, but they don’t tell them to can it. When the Constitution was read in Congress the other day and they were reading the section that says the president must be born in this country when one of them screamed “except Obama.” The person was removed from the gallery but the message was loud and clear. Last night when Brian Williams interviewed the new Speaker of the House John Boehner he asked Boehner if he believed the president was born in this country Boehner replied,”The state of Hawaii has said that President Obama was born there. That’s good enough for me.” When Willaims brought up the fact that 13 members of his party are pushing forth legislation that suggest they don’t believe it. Boehner replied Brian, “when you come to the Congress of the United States, there are 435 of us. We’re nothing more than a slice of America. People come, regardless of party labels, they come with all kinds of beliefs and ideas. It’s the melting pot of America. It’s not up to me to tell them what to think.” Oh really as the speaker of the house it is his job to keep the majority in order and in most cases he will be telling them how to think and more importantly how to vote, but the GOP continues to quietly accept the birther narrative. No they won’t promote it but they will definately do nothing to stop it.

Tonight on NBC News Brian Williams “braved” the elements to bring us the news. He stood in a weather tent, and his carefully coiffed hair was slightly tousled from the wind. He went on to tell us how New York had been hit with 7 inches of snow. Well boo hoo for the citizens of New York. Baltimore is dealing with the most snow they have had in the history of the city. Since December Baltimore has gotten 72 inches of snow and counting. Washington DC is also experiencing record snowfall amounts. People in this region are coping with blizzard conditions, power outages, food shortages, impassable roads and cabin fever. So when you see Williams go out into the weather tent to show its bad in New York too you can’t help but say “give me a break”!

We know times are bad. We know the Stock Market is at it lowest level in 10 years. We know the jobless rate is through the roof, and GMC is about to go belly up. Times are bad but what is the media doing about it? If the media keeps touting all the gloom and doom everyone in this country will be under a suicide watch. We are realist but do we need CNBC reporters declaring the death of civilization everyday. Does anyone report the news without editorializing anymore? We’ve got reporters telling us when to buy and when to sell. Do they view this as their time to shine? What is their job? Is it to report or hype? I expect hype from the fellows at MSNBC, Fox and CNN, but I held the Big 3 to a higher standard since their networks at one time had real journalistic integrity, but sadly that day is gone. So everyday we can look forward to hearing the sky is falling, but we know although times are really bad the sky is not really falling. Now the stock market that’s a different matter.

The news used to be just that. The anchor told you what happened and made no attempt to color the news. Tonight Brian williams was reporting on the sharing of power that is now going on in Zimbabwe. Today opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was sworn in by President Robert Mugabe. While reporting the story Williams called the president a “thug”. The president has committed a number of atrocities since taking power in 1980, but that does not give any anchor the right to call him a thug. When our former president was ducking shoes from a disenchanted journalist I was appalled. Because despite political differences Bush was our president and for that reason he deserved respect. The office must be respected even if the individual is reviled and that same courtesy must be practiced by journalist in our country.
NBC news anchor Brian Williams said tonight that Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested this morning and he was “hauled away like a common criminal.” This statement struck me wrong. If Blagojevich has done what he is charged with then he is a common criminal. White collar crimes are just as criminal as a person who shoplifts from a Target. The shoplifter at Target will be cuffed in front of the crowd and the police could care less if the criminal is embarrassed. This governor was trying to sell the vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder and he should have been hauled out to public scorn. So Brian, if this guy did what he was charged with then he has violated the public trust and the public demands that common criminals do jail time.
