Why is the GOP facisnated with Plantation Politics?

Republicans often say that black Democrats are tied to the “Democrat plantation”. it is interesting that these same GOP surrogates are often crying about being called names by the left, but they find nothing wrong with this kind of characterization. Plantation politics is an important page in the GOP political playbook, and often the black conservatives are ever so willing to articulate this philosopy. Mitt Romney announces his new Black Leadership Council…will they be able to get him above 0%?

WASHINGTON — “Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney announced this morning that former Birmingham congressman Artur Davis would be a member of his new Black Leadership Council. Davis, who represented Alabama’s 7th District for eight years as a Democrat, recently switched parties and endorsed Romney. The council “will help facilitate dialogue between Mitt Romney and respected leaders who provide unique expertise, experience and knowledge on a range of issues impacting black American communities,” according to the campaign announcement. “I am proud to have the endorsements of so many leaders in the black community,” Romney said in a prepared statement from the campaign. “They know all too well that the economic downturn that has continued to hammer our country has been even more devastating for black Americans. Together, we will work to end that downturn, and we will not rest until all Americans have the jobs they need, the quality education they are owed, and the opportunities they deserve.” The chairs of the national council are U.S. Reps. Tim Scott of South Carolina and Allen West of Florida, and Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll. Davis is one of 18 other council members.”*

Allen West says if he were a liberal the NAACP would have a fit about this ad, but because he is a conservative they are silent…is he right?

Back from vacation in New Orleans…Is Allen West Crazy?

Just back from the Big Easy, but I had to comment on the latest Allen West quote. This is what he said in reference to the President, “He does not want you to have the self-esteem of getting up and earning and having the title of American. He’d rather you be his slave and be economically dependent upon him.” I can understand that West has a differnet political point of view, but does he actually think the president seeks to enslave hard working Americans? Rep. Allen West says he lived with his role model

Yesterday Rep. Allen West said he grew up with his role model and that was his father. West was part of panel discussion sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus. As we look at the black family the sad reality is too many families do not have a father in the home. What happened to the black family? It has to be more than a dependency on the government? West used the term of “reward” in reference to black mothers having children out of wedlock is it really that simple or is it more? Tell me what you think.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz’ Responds the Allen West tirade

Debbie Wasserman Schultz responded to Allen West in a very measured businesslike manner. She has come off like a grown up and he has come off looking rather childish. She pretty much said if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. West always came off as disciplined, but lately he has been coming off the rails. He also recently said “I must confess, when I see anyone with an Obama 2012 bumper sticker, I recognize them as a threat to the gene pool.” So West is really trying to play to his base, and to do that he will say anything.

Tea party congressman Allen West Rips Into DNC Chair…did he overreact ?

Rep. West became upset with DNC Chair Debra Wasserman-Schultz when she

said the following on the House floor, “The gentleman from Florida, who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries. Unbelievable from a member from South Florida.” West fired off an email showing his contempt for the DNC chair. He said Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up.” So did he overreact to her comments? Tell me what you think.
