It has been a joy to write this blog for the past year. My friend Gail encouraged me to start the blog, and I thank her for that. I thought I would write during the election and stop after it was over, but I changed my mind. There are so many different issues to address and so I will continue to write and my hope is that my posts give you food for thought. I have no problem posting comments that oppose my viewpoint, but this is a blog where civil discourse is encouraged. I am also a motivational speaker and I am available for speaking engagements as well as radio and television interviews. If you would like to contact me please email me at: jreynoldsofmd@aol.com to discuss specifics.
Thanks for leaving the comment. Yeah, I added you to my blogroll because I love your posts. So rational, level-headed, and insightful. – Bruce

Hi. Thought you might be interested in reading this piece (which appeared in The Daily Voice) and perhaps posting it or the link to it on your blog. It’s called “How Black Voters Took on the Clinton Machine” by Dr. Lenora Fulani and it opens up an important discussion about the role of the black community in the 2008 presidential primary and the growth of the black/independent alliance. It can be found at http://www.independentvoting.org/activistcenter/blackAmerica.html and take the 2008 presidential poll.
Eager to hear your thoughts!

Will you be staying on as a blogger after the election? Politics will still be around then, and I think your input would be appreciated.

Hi Bruce, I don’t know if I will be blogging after the election. I can say I have truly enjoyed this past few months and I am wondering what will i do after 11/4. Thanks for your kind words and keep on letting people know that this is a serious fight but-YES WE CAN.

I feel empowered to read politics from the eyes of a black mom. Brothers GOT TO BE FEELING PRETTY GOOD ABOUT NOW. Because Yes We Can is now Yes We Did. There is still much work to do in this country, this is a down payment for the works of Rev. Dr. Martin L. King and others of his time. I was panting with the Black Panthers at the time of Martin L. King turn another cheek was not what most of my generation was about. But like our new President Obama said we must put childish ways in the past and own up to what we must do NOW. Power To the People now and Always

I haven’t been back here in a while, but I’m always appreciative when I find my way. Though I don’t always agree, I do need the perspective. Thank you.

ReyMac I appreciate when you stop by. As I have said I write what I believe, but I am open to discussion as long as the discussions stays civil, and fortunately for me it does stay that way most of the time. So stop by any time you’re always welcome!

It’s funny that this blog was not around before January of 2008. Were there no political issues to blog about then? If you want to speak your mind, great, do so. But, make sure you do so all the time or the educated will not take you seriously. You have good points on your blog but the simple fact that you NEVER have a negative comment towards a faltering ideology is disturbing. It’s like when you write a term paper – to be a truly great work you have to acknowledge the holes in your argument, not just holes in the other sides’ arguments. And there are plenty of holes in the both republican and democrat arguments…..so, for you own validity, please mention when Obama does wrong….because he does do wrong at times.

Yes there were always political issues. So I don’t pretend nothing existed prior to my blog, but that is when I decided to start commenting. Obama’s run for the presidency was exhilerating and that is what sparked my interest in blogging. I know you have not read everyone of my blogs because if you had you would have seen that I have in fact criticized Obama, but the man has been in office since January so I think he deserves our support after all we see what 8 years of Bush policies have brought us. So don’t say I don’t see both sides because I do and at this point I want our president and our country to succeed, and I believe you do too, but we have differing opinions and that is why this country is great. I do appreciate your comments even if I do not agree with them.

Thanks to the writer who honored Joe Jackson. Joe Jackson was the replica of my father. I am not black. I am brown. My father spanked me and my 5 siblings a lot when we were growing up. Now I am 63. My father died many years ago and I miss him a lot. He would have been proud of all of us. I understand now why he did what he did. I would not have been an RN with a Masters Degree if my father would have not been spanking me a lot to emphsize the importance of higher education. All of my siblings had a degree that my father had planned since we were children.
