Unbelievable…Rush Limbaugh compares Boston Bomber to Trayvon Martin

Trayvon Martin was an unarmed teen killed by an over zealous “wanna be” cop George Zimmerman. Today Rush Limbaugh claimed the media was attempting to portray the bomber as an angel in the same way they did Trayvon Martin initially. Really, let’s compare a slain teen to a young man who has been indicted for murder. This is even over the top for Limbaugh. The accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev caused a city lockdown, brutally killed 3 and maimed hundreds and Limbaugh had the audacity to compare him to Martin. That is low even for Limbaugh.

I guess there is a difference between listening and hearing. Perhaps hearing is more subjective than I realized. Nevertheless, when I listened to the audio clip of Limbaugh I did not hear him compare Trayvon Martin to Tsarnaev. What I heard was a comparison of how the media are treating each of the subjects. Limbaugh said, just as the writer of the article himself wrote “you notice also the news media are doing to Dzhokhar what they did to Trayvon”. Does this sound like Limbaugh is comparing the subjects or comparing how the media are treating the subjects?

I think you’re right, Bill. I normally can’t stomach listening to Rush, but in the interest of being informed enough to comment, I listened to the clip. He is clearly discussing the media representation of “the kid’. He barely even mentioned Trayvon, except in passing.

But, Rush is the master of manipulating the news to agree with his point of view, and he does it well here. (Remember what he did to Sandra Fluke?) Stupid people love to hear him say this shit, so he says it and laughs all the way to the bank. What he clearly doesn’t tell you, is that the media is not actively trying to engender sympathy for the “kid”, like they may have done for Trayvon, who was clearly the victim in that mess, they are using the fact that he is young, with a relatively normal pre-bombing history, and they are trying to understand how someone with his status, age and history could do something so horrible.

The rest of the media is asking the question “how can such an innocent seeming young man be so led astray to plant a bomb in a crowd?” That’s legitimate journalism. What Rush is doing is not. He’s twisting the questions around to make it seem as if the media is trying to excuse him. Rush is always on the defensive when it comes to the media, because he is such a bad example of responsible journalism, so it’s natural that he will try to paint the media as irresponsible, in the hopes that his listeners think him better by comparison. Frankly, I have seen none of that from the media I watch. Most, if not all of them are incredulous that this happened, but are pretty firm in denouncing what he did.

That’s not to say that all the media is perfect, but for the most part, they are light years ahead of Rush.

Bottom line – Rush is still a weaselly, lying, manipulating, money grubbing, hypocritical asshole.

Any or all of your assertions about Limbaugh might or might not be true. I’m not interested in defending Limbaugh; I’m interested in defending the truth. The truth is Limbaugh compared the treatment of the subjects by the media not the subjects themselves.

…and in the process made a fool of himself….

Bill and SI on the same page. Miracles do happen. I don’t like the Trayvon Martin and the terrorist used in the same sentence. contrary to Bill’s response yes I can hear, but Limbaugh has an agenda and he is talking about the media portrayal, but he is savvy and the comparision of the two people is no mistake.

How you feel about Limbaugh’s comment or his agenda does not change the truth. Yes, he is savvy but he did not compare the two people.

He’s a racist! You can tell by listening to him. How on earth can you compare Trayvon and the terrorist? His comments are an insult to Trayvon Martin and his family. Trayvon didn’t go around blowing up and killing 3 and injuring 170 people. Trayvon Martin didn’t have a shootout with the police. White people are a trip!! Its ashame Whites don’t admitt their wrong doings so they blame it on an innocent Black child as Trayvon Martin. Let me tell you something, the chickens are coming home to roost!!
