What a load of baloney. Sorry, I can’t tolerate intolerance.
And I wonder whether she really believes that she chose to be heterosexual? I wonder when she did that.
And Jesus didn’t say a damn thing about homosexuality, did he?
Spanish, you don’t have to agree with her, but she has a right to what she says and believes, and you should be TOLERANT of people who do not share your views. Contrary to popular opinion, voices on the Left are NOT the arbiters of what the definition of tolerance is. Tolerance is neutral. It means I believe what I believe, you believe what you believe, and we RESPECT each other’s right to have those beliefs. If you want to engage her positions in debate, fine. But too often people on the Left simply say, “You are a bigot/racist/homophobe/islamophobe/sexist/whatever negative label” and therefore I do not need to engage you in debate.” It’s a lazy person’s way out. Before you offer up some argument like “she has the same views as the Klan therefore she is a hater” or some such attempt, Let me remind you this young lady did not advocate rounding up all gays and exterminating them. The Klan does and therefore they are bonafide homophobes. As far as Jesus not addressing homosexuality directly, let me remind you that he said that not one jot or tittle of the law will pass away until all is fulfilled. Leviticus strictly forbids same sex relations. It was not a law that was enacted for the sake of remaining separate from the people of Canaan like laws concerning mixing fabrics, nor was it for health sake like laws concerning keeping kosher. It was because homosexuality was an abomination to God, and a corruption of His design. You might not agree, might feel we have “evolved”, might think it’s old hat. But many-the vast majority- do not. Be tolerant of beliefs you do not share.
Why should I? You’re not being tolerant of my intolerance of her intolerance.
Tolerance has nothing to do with left/right politics. Other than the fact that most sexual identity bigots seem to come from the right.
But let’s work with an example. If I voiced the opinion that women should not be allowed to reproduce without a court order from a male judge, and you were a women who wanted to have a baby, and you disagreed with my opinion, would it be fair of me to call you intolerant and ask you to keep your disagreement to yourself?
Now, lest you go off on the wrong track, the question is not whether I’m entitled to my opinion about women, as vile as that opinion may be, (I am) the question is whether I’m allowed to tell you to shut up when you disagree with me, by claiming my beliefs are sacrosanct, because they are my beliefs.
The first rap that I’ve ever heard that makes any sense to me.
