Yes. Absent a secure and nurturing environment for children, the potential for success in life is severely diminished. This environment has the best chance of being engendered where there is a father and mother who have demonstrated a commitment to each other through marriage. I know, we all can cite anecdotal exceptions but statistically that offers the best opportunity.
Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Am I being ambiguous here? When we have generations where nobody can recall when someone went to an actual wedding, when we have “male sires” (I cannot call them ‘fathers’) who have multiple children with multiple women, when we have MEN who cannot or will not behave like responsible pillars of the community, it is the biggest challenge in the community. 9 out of 10 black children are born out of wedlock, and that is inexcusable. Before we can blame racism for our ills, we need to clean house and shore up our own ranks from self-defeating behavior.
