Courtni Webb, a california high school senior wrote a poem about the Newtown tragedy. In the poem said she understood why the shooter did it. Her school has a zero tolerance for violence and her words were said to promote violence. She has been suspended and she faces a possible expulsion. The kicker is she never turned this poem into the school. A teacher took the poen out of Webb’s folder and gave it to the prinicipal. Is this a violation of webb’s freedom of speech?

I think they completely over reacted. But, they are educators, and that’s what they do best. This was an opportunity to talk with the young lady, not punish her. Common sense just isn’t common anymore in our schools.
