I’m glad to see that BET is at least TRYING to show they aren’t TOTALLY in the bag for the Democratic Party. I strongly suspect this ad does not reflect the views of the VAST majority of the staff or viewers, but it would be irresponsible for them to refuse to show it when they are using the public airwaves.
Pull it for the sake of your children’s future. We don’t need this in our own backyard. One must wonder for if those of us who are promoting these types of advertisement aren’t hiding behind ads like these.
Oh I love it so much when I see how the left embraces free speech and the exchange of ideas. This makes you wonder if they aren’t hiding behind the ad? H.L Mencken said “it is hard to believe that a man is telling the truth when you know that you would lie if you were in his place”. Is it?
I see nothing wrong with the ad. In fact, I agree with it. What has Obama done for our country? Anyone…anyone?
Amendment I
Sorry, but Same Sex Marriage is not exactly what I had in mind. What about our economy, our national security, and unemployment? Things that really matter.
Very few will vote for Obama based on Same Sex Marriage, many will oppose him. Please understand, Same Sex Marriage, free abortions, and free birth control are not the issues that are plagueing America.
to fact check this ad’s point about budget cuts to the HBCUs: Inside Higher Ed reports: “When Pell Grants and student loans are taken into account, federal funding that went to the colleges actually increased, the White House said, and the loss of money from other agencies and departments mirrors a decline for higher education as a whole. Advocates for historically black colleges say the drop-off is cause for concern, but not panic.” in addition, the funding cuts are a consequence of Republican leaders in Congress demanding those cuts back in the summer of 2011 in exchange for increasing the debt ceiling.
As far as BET carrying this ad…it seems a bit questionable since most of BET’s audience are younger people who are more likely to support gay marriage and Obama in general. Keep this in mind: political action committees have paid premium ad rates to get their ads on TV stations. BET, whose viewership has declined over the past several years, would be happy to air ANY ad if the money’s there. Same applies for any commercial TV station whose first priority is profit.
