Should Churches Pay Taxes?

The question is simple: as churches become more politically involved, should they pay taxes, Yes or No, and why?

Yes. Churches stopped being institutions of personal spiritual belief a long time ago. And property taxes are taxed on the value of property. They have nothing to do with the mission of the church. The municipalities still have to provide governmental services like fire, police, water, sewage, road construction and repair, snow plowing, etc. They get the same benefits we get for our taxes, yet don’t contribute to the tax base that pays for them.

They should pay them regardless of how political they are.
