Why did this Dr. Pepper ad offend some Christians?

So according to this Facebook advertisement man evolved from ape into a fully evolved Human being with a hankering for a Dr. Pepper. Some Christians are offended by this ad, but why? Who needs Dr. Pepper to affirm their Christian beliefs? Not me. This is merely a company courting controvversy to get attention, and so far it’s working.

The only reason a Christian (an uneducated one at that) would be offended by this is because it implies the truth and accuracy of evolution, and that apparently contradicts their religious beliefs. Who cares? There are a lot of willfully ignorant people in the world, and their opinions are only as valuable or relevant as the facts that support them, and a denial of evolution is based on zero facts.

Evolution is a fact. Get over it.

I can’t see this as being any more offensive than the Geico commercials with cavemen; don’t recall anyone being up in arms about it.
