Just tell me how does a person get this up close and personal with the president? Obviously the Secret Service did not regard him to be a threat, but how did they arrive at this conclusion. Share your thoughts.

I think one of the pundits suggested that the whole thing was staged, kind of hope so cause otherwise the thought is rather concerning.
This was so staged, not even funny. However, on another note, everyone laughed when President Bush had shoes thrown at him.
It was not funny and this has nothing to do with the shoe throwing incident, but let’s talk about it since you brought it up. I for one was not laughing when the shoes were thrown at President Bush. bush was my president and he should not have been disrespected that way. Just like whether you like it or acknowledge it President Obama is everyone’s president and this is no way to treat a president.
I found the shoe incident a bit disconcerting, but on the other hand, I learned something I didn’t know – which was that throwing shoes was a form of hurling insults. Obviously, it’s not dangerous, but it does make the point from the Iraqi point of view that the hurler has a lot of contempt for the hurlee.
And in the end, I did smile at that. Not because it was Bush, but because the custom is humorous, from my cultural viewpoint.
