Sometimes the truth can be stinging. So let me see if I can paraphrase Snyderman’s comment. These shoes can be for white kids if,they in the unlikely case chose them. But they are coveted by black kids. Mmm, that’s not really better is it?
Nothing makes the story better. Yes the truth can be stinging. As a parent I think this is ridiculous and my children would not entertain the thought of asking for theses shoes. Fortunately, their peers won’t be wearing them either, but for those who do I hope they learn to covet something that has a long term value, like an education. That is my hope and prayer.
I do agree with Snyderman, we are frivolous people who put too much on what we ware or have than what we are. Joe A. have that Nike show but got all “F” in school, Joe B. gets all “A’s”; both of African heritage, Joe A will get all the girls. Remember Gabby the beautiful Olympian medalist in London 2012 Olympic? Yes, that one; all we (African American) community sew was her hair. We have problem and the soonest we face it and stop blaming others, the better it will be for us. And you wonder why savings is the lowest in our community…
