Rep. Steve King comes to Rep. Todd Akins Defense, “I’ve Never Heard Of A Girl Getting Pregnant From Statutory Rape Or Incest”

Rep. King is defending his friend Re. Todd Akin. King says “I’ve Never Heard Of A Girl Getting Pregnant From Statutory Rape Or Incest.” So if he has never heard of it obviously it has never happened. Wrong. King and Akin are extremists in the Republican Party, but their opinions are tolerated and in some cases accepted. Read the linked story and share your thoughts.

I’m a Republican and very pro life, however, I disagree with the comment. That being said, only about 3% of abortions are due to rape, incest, health of mother. To be honest, I don’t have a problem with abortion for those reasons, so long as counseling goes along with it.

Women who find themselves in such a horrible situation such as rape/incest need more then just an abortion. They need help to deal with the aftermath and we as citizens need to make sure they get it!

My problem with abortion is the other 97% that use it as a form of birth control. Yes, it is a woman’s choice to choose, however, shouldn’t we be responsible and do what we can as women to prevent the pregnancy to begin with? Not just pregnancy, but what about STDs? We need to protect ourselves and not expect the govenment to do it for us.

We also need to remember that Akins is not the first politician to say something incredibly stupid.

Read Kevin Jackson’s blog regarding this issue.

That being said, I had reservations about your blog, but I have found myself coming to enjoy it.
