    Is the question mark at the end of your caption an indication of skepticism on your part or is it suggestive of a lack of understanding of how that could be?

    Publicly traded companies have a fiduciary responsibility to disclose to their shareholders any known impending contingencies that will have a negative impact on the company’s finances.

    A typical method is to allocate the cost of that contingency over the projected number of units of the product that the company sells. It helps the shareholders better conceptualize the impact on the business.
