Say it “ain’t” so, but it is. Serena williams wins a gold medal at the Olympics and she celebrates by doing a dance popularized by a street gang. ” Bill Plaschke, a sports columnist for the Los Angeles Times tweeted, “Isn’t there some kind of dance done by multi-millionaires who live in exclusive South Florida neighborhoods? Serena C-walking at Wimbledon only shows how long she’s been away from home, separated from violence and death associated with that dance. And then there was this from blogger Debbie Schlussel: “Yup, that’s what we need representing America, a Gold Medalist who, upon winning, glorifies hardened criminals who murder each other — and innocent Americans — for sport.”
This is a controversy that simply did not need to happen. Read the linked story and share your thoughts.

Debbie Schlussel is essentially a white supremacist. Maybe not the best source to be quoting. This is a non-issue. The crip walk is essentially a pop culture icon, regardless of its roots.
Thanks for the comment Han, I don’t agree with the majority of things Schlussel writes, but I do stand by the quote in the post. the crip walk was an inappropriate response to winning an Olympic medal.
But what if one is unaware of the definition of a crip walk ?
