CNN list 9 “faithy” companies, the question is why?

Chick fil A is under fire currently because the CEO has said that he supports traditional marriage. He has also donated money to groups that oppose same sex marriage. In this free country that alone is enough to make him the object of disdain. Today CNN featured a story on their faith blog that was brought to my attention. The title used the word “faithy” which is strange in and of it itself, but they listed 9 companies that also have faith as a part of their corporate identity. It is as if they are “outing” them so that they too can come under fire. This might not have been the goal of the list, but one has to wonder why would they feel the need to post a list and also ask the readers to submit any others that they might know of that fit into this “faithy” category. Share your thoughts.

Faith, belief in a religious or spiritual mindset, is personal to the “faithy” or the believer. That fact is what underpins the freedom of religion, that the personal beliefs of the individual should never be made a part of government, and that no one, especially the government, should be able to exert undue influence over one’s personal beliefs.

Companies that use the personal beliefs of the owners and founders and managers of those companies to affect public policy, influence the beliefs of its customers, or simply to proselytize, cross that line of personal belief, in the process inflicting those personal beliefs on others who may have different or even opposing beliefs.

Now, they are free to do so, just as I am free to say I don’t buy into those beliefs. Freedom of speech. Publicizing this allows others who disagree to make informed decisions about whether to avail themselves of their services or products.

My problem with companies like this is that they presume that I care what they believe. I don’t. Just sell me chicken, and don’t use the profits from doing so to foment what you believe is religious truth but I believe is religious bigotry. If others want to buy their chicken because that’ll “stick it to the gays”, have at it.

But don’t expect my patronage. And don’t cry when someone organizes a boycott. The “faithy” use that tool all the time, so what goes around comes around.

WHY WONDER ? CNN HAS ON ITS STAFF LIST MEN WHO ARE QUEER, SODOMITES AS ROLE MODELS. IT SHOULDN’T COME AS A SURPRISE THAT CNN IS NOW MARKETING SODOMY TO THEIR VIEWERS, PARTICULARLY TO INNOCENT ADOLESCENTS. I WAS TERRIBLY SHOCKED THE DAY CNN’S PEDRO PINTO CRITICIZED THE CAPTAIN OF THE ITALIAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM FOR USING THE TERM “QUEEN” TO DESCRIBE SODOMITES IN THEIR MIDST. MR PINTO WAS REGARDING SODOMITES IN GLOWING TERMS. I HAVE STOPPED WATCHING SPORTS ON THAT CHANNEL.

THEY SAY THEY ARE IN THE “FREE WORLD” WHERE ONE IS FREE TO “DRINK” WATER THROUGH ONE’S NOSE RATHER THAN THROUGH THE MOUTH. BUT I KNOW THE CLEAR POSITION OF THE BIBLE ON THAT ISSUE, FOR A WHOLE CITY WAS WIPED OUT FROM THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH BY GOD ON ACCOUNT OF SODOMY.

OVER HERE IN NIGERIA WE VIEW IT FOR WHAT IT IS – SOCIAL ILL. AND WE HAVE A SYSTEM WHERE PSYCHOLOGISTS WEAN THE AFFLICTED AWAY FROM THE ILL BEHAVIOUR. BUT SANCTIONS APPLY WHERE THE AFFLICTED REFUSES THERAPY BUT INSTEAD OPTS FOR “MARKETING” HIS SODOMY AS CNN NOW DOES IN AMERICA.

First off, Okey, do you have vision problems? I ask that in a most sympathetic way, because I have a friend who has to type comments on Facebook in ALL-CAPS because of glaucoma and other vision issues. Normally, online etiquette views ALL-CAPS as the equivalent of SHOUTING at someone. So I ask politely, do you have vision problems, because if you don’t, then WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING? We can hear you.

Secondly, sodomy includes lots of sexual practices, and doesn’t necessarily mean gay sex, as you seem to imply. Oral sex (cunnilingus, fellatio) and anal sex between the opposite of sexual partners is often included in the term. So, frankly, I don’t understand your fixation with “sodomy”. I’m sure many would agree with the aphorism “don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it.” ;)
