“Proco “Joe” Moreno, one of 50 Windy City aldermen who make up the City Council, told the Chicago Tribune that he plans to prevent Chick-fil-A from building its second Chicago restaurant in his trendy, hipster-filled ward. The company’s offense? President Dan Cathy’s comments last week that he is “guilty as charged” of defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman. In other words, he’s not in favor of gay marriage.
“If you are discriminating against a segment of the community, I don’t want you in the 1st Ward,” Moreno told the Tribune this week. “Because of this man’s ignorance, I will now be denying Chick-fil-A’s permit to open a restaurant in the 1st Ward.” He also added that Cathy’s comments were “bigoted, homophobic.” So let me get this straight. If you support traditional marriage you are “bigoted and homophobic?” If you are a supporter of traditional marriage between a man and a woman you will be denied a permit to open a business. Keep in mind your business will sell to anyone, but because you believe in traditional marriage you are worthy of scorn. Yeah that sounds fair.

Good point. The CEO’s comment was made to a Baptist publication. He donates funds to promote traditional marriage and he stands by his principles. Ck F Lay does not discriminate based on any protected category including sexual orientation in its business practices. I believe it is overreach to propose to create a barrier to business because of the CEO’s political beliefs and actions unrelated to business. Homophobia us also a loaded term which can be used to indict those who do not share certain LGBT viewpoints.
Liberals should never speak without a teleprompter. It seems as though whenever they do they often expose themselves showing how intolerant they really are or how ignorant they really are. Proco Joe has censured Dan Cathy and exclaimed that he will deny the necessary permit to construct a restaurant in his district “because of his ignorance”. How ignorant is Proco Joe if he is unable to discern the difference between one expressing his values and beliefs and discrimination against a segment of the community?
I believe Mr. Moreno is wrong and unfair to the applicant .

As I understand , Heterosexual , bisexual and homosexual preferences are treated equally as customers and employees .
Those who believe as Moreno does ,, have the option to buy or not buy the food .

Sounds to me that Chick-fil A Filet should file suit against the City of Chicago for retaliation as well as reverse discrimination, and I knew that there was also something special that I liked about Chick-fil-A’s policy that none of its chains would be opened on Sundays. This is a family oriented business whose profits will more than triple because of this blantant act of hatred towards its founder’s persal beliefs. Shame on the Mayor of Chicago and I will now patronize this business more often. God made Adam then Eve, not Adam and Steve.
